The Nokia 7.1 has launched, and as the first smartphone to use the PureDisplay screen technology, it’s supposed to take our collective viewing experience to the next level.

A high contrast ratio, improved colours, and greater clarity across all of your content are just some of the key features of this phone, which is powered by a dual rear depth-sensing camera, two-phase detection, and ZEISS Optics.

The 7.1 is the first Nokia smartphone to have a PureDisplay screen at 19:9 aspect ratio perfect for a superior viewing experience (which will come in handy, since Amazon Prime, Netflix, and YouTube support HDR content now). The Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform provides the right kind of powerful processor for streaming high-quality content.

Besides the screen, the phone has received some notable battery efficiency improvements so you can enjoy your video and audio for longer.

The glass exterior with dual-anodised aluminium diamond-cut-coloured edges give the phone a premium look and finish. At 5.84-inches, the 7.1 is a good size fit for your pocket and your hand.

And there’s good news for photography enthusiasts – Nokia’s ZEISS Optics 12MP/5MP dual cameras with two-phase detection enable fast and accurate autofocus in both low and light conditions. Professional photographers can also capture studio style photos with its rear depth camera supporting the ‘bokeh’ mode.

The Nokia 7.1 also has an AI-enhanced front camera with facial recognition to deploy animated 3D personas, masks, and filters – so go ahead and animate your alter-egos!

Another plus – the Nokia 7.1 (like the other smartphones in the Android One family) runs the unmodified Android OS endorsed by Google.

The Nokia 7.1 (in Gloss Midnight Blue) will be available for $499 at Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi from Wednesday 17th October.
