And Just Like That… the new chapter of the popular series Sex and the City, follows on from when Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) first navigated the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to now, when they’re navigating the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.
The ten-episode series And Just Like That… comes from executive producer Michael Patrick King. We won’t spoil the first few episodes but let’s just say it just gets better, particularly if you love watching the fashion and stylish New York apartments.
The series also includes previously announced cast members Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, Chris Noth, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Willie Garson and Evan Handler.
What are they doing about Samantha?
In February of this year, HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys told TV Line in regards to Samantha’s absence: “Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave. Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life…. They’re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York. So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you’re 30, you may not have when you’re 50.”
Samantha’s absence is pretty much explained in the first few scenes. About Samantha, Sarah Jessica Parker has said: “No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would. Samantha isn’t part of this story,” she wrote. “But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X.”
