Auto-Save, Analytics and Apple Watch: All the New Features Hitting Snapchat Now

Snapchat is serving up fresh features this month. And, creators, these updates are set to get you snapping stat! Whether you’re filming behind-the-scenes content, recording on the go or hunting for better insights into your content performance, the app is levelling up big time – and bringing its A-game straight to your fingertips (or more aptly, wrist). Here are some of new Snapchat features we’ll be playing with this month. And, why you’ll probably want to start using them immediately too!

Snap, crackle, edit!

First up, say hello to the Create a Video template feature – your new go-to for remixing Memories into TikTok-style masterpieces. Available globally on iOS, this tool lets you select a few saved Snaps, slap on a Lens, pick a track from Snapchat’s Sounds library, and voila: you’ve got a slick little video compilation ready to post. It’s fast, fuss-free, and ridiculously fun.

And, if you’ve ever wished you could keep those killer Stories alive for more than 24 hours, Snapchat heard you loud and clear. With the new Auto-Save Stories to Public Profiles feature, creators can now automatically stash their Stories on their public profiles. That means fans can go back and binge-watch their faves, while creators can build a more permanent, scroll-worthy archive. Think of it like the Instagram Highlights of Snap. Just cooler.

A numbers game

If you’re the kind of creator who loves getting into the nitty gritty of what works (and what flops), you’ll be all over the new Insights features. Snap is rolling out powerful performance analytics across Stories and Spotlight designed to help you understand your audience and their behaviours like never before.

You’ll now be able to check out:

  • Returning Viewers. The number of fans who’ve watched your public content for at least 12 days in the last month. Translation? Proof that people are genuinely into what you’re doing.
  • Top Content. A leaderboard of your most-watched posts from the last 28 days. A quick glance at what’s poppin’ (and what’s not).
  • Total View Time. The total time people have spent watching your Stories and Spotlight vids. Because who doesn’t want to know how bingeable they really are?
  • Views by Traffic Sources. Find out where your audience is coming from—be it Discover, Following, Search, or even Chat.
  • Spotlight View Rate + Time. These two metrics reveal not just how long people are watching, but how often they’re making it to the end. So you can tweak and tailor your content to keep them hooked.

Long story short? You’re no longer flying blind when it comes to building your Snap brand.

Editing, But Make It Easy

Coming soon to US-based creators is the new Timeline Editorial game-changing way to trim, rearrange, and polish your videos right inside the app. Finally, no more guessing where to cut. This feature displays your footage in a chronological timeline (à la traditional video editors), so you can snip, swap, and stitch together a seamless story. Once your clips are in place, layer on filters, Lenses, audio, and stickers to your heart’s content.

Perfect for both punchy Stories and longer-form Spotlight content, it’s built for creators who want to do more without needing a separate editing app.

And Now… Snapchat on Your Wrist

Just when you thought Snapchat couldn’t be more mobile, they’ve gone and made it wearable. Introducing: Snapchat for Apple Watch.

You can now stay connected with friends and fans right from your wrist. Preview messages, send a quick emoji, or respond using Dictation, Scribble, or the keyboard. Whether you’re mid-run, walking the dog, or too lazy to grab your phone from the other room, Snap’s made it possible to keep the convo going with just a flick of the wrist.

TL;DR: The new Snapchat features are all part of platform’s move to make communication as seamless and spontaneous as possible. No matter the device.
