Sustainability Benefits Of Home Automation

Australians are switching to smart home automation at a record pace, as this luxury is becoming more affordable than ever to consumers, and providing numerous benefits.

Following the introduction of personal assistant devices, there’s a wave of smart home technology now in the Australian market.

“Personalisation has moved beyond merely heating and lighting – homeowners now have ultimate control to manage shading, energy efficiency and privacy in their home which can actively reduce energy consumption and amp up security,” says Jenny Brown, National Marketing Manager of Luxaflex Window Fashions.

“For example, Aussies can schedule their blinds to lower them when you need them covering the windows to provide maximum insulation, such as just prior to sunset in winter – the optimum time to close them to help prevent heat loss. These coverings can reduce an average home’s heating costs by up to 49 per cent”

Even individual window coverings can be powered at the touch of a button with a selection of stylish remotes, smartphone apps, and integration with third-party systems such as Google Home and Amazon’s Alexa, according to preference.

“Our award-winning Luxaflex PowerView Motorisation uses clever technology to provide the perfect room ambience day or night. The smart design allows you to create and schedule customised room ‘Scenes’ that lets your shades operate automatically on their own or together throughout the day based on personal light, privacy, and overall room ambiance preferences. You can even schedule multiple-room ‘Scenes’ to activate simultaneously, and even operate them remotely when you are away from home,” says Jenny.

This technology also helps increase home security, as you can configure the system to give the illusion someone is in the house by having your blinds set to open and close while on holidays.

“Additionally, home automation allows each device to work individually or together based on user preferences or external conditions. For example, PowerView Motorisation uses clever technology so Aussies can now schedule their blinds to lower immediately after dusk – the optimum time to close them to help prevent heat loss,” she adds.

A wide range of automation systems are available, which are traditionally broken up into two categories – wireless and hardwired systems. For further information, visit www.luxaflex.com.au
