Book Lovers’ Guide Plus Top Tech Reads

You may think that chocolates and flowers is the best way to a woman’s heart. Well, think again. Omnipoll research says the real way to her heart is with an engrossing book.

Over eighty per cent of women surveyed say they love to read and over two thirds of them like receiving books as presents.

Australia’s leading bookseller, Dymocks has put together expert gift recommendations to suit every taste, including their top suggestions for Women Love Tech.

Before we get onto the fiction, let’s check out their recommendations for fab tech reads.

Utopia for Realists is sure to get your interest. In this book, the young historian Rutger Bregman tells us how we came into this world, plus where technology and progress have made us richer but more uncertain than ever before.

Sheryl Sandberg’s new book Option B features stories of people who recovered from personal and professional hardship. From her own story of a mother of two who had to face her husband’s death and scientists’ new findings, this book explains what is the Option B, when they had to keep finding meaning, love and joy in their life.

The most anticipated novel of 2017, Into the Water by Paula Hawkins, has just hit the shelves. From the author of juggernaut bestseller Girl on the Train, this new book is an addictive novel about the slipperiness of the truth, and a family drowning in secrets.

Sophie Higgins, Dymocks Head of Marketing and Merchandise, said it’s sure to be on top of the wish list. “In 2016, for 48 out of 52 weeks there was at least one version of Girl on the Train in the Bestseller list so fans will be clamouring to get their hands on this new story.”

For those who love historical fiction See What I Have Done is the haunting and atmospheric novel by new Australian talent Sarah Schmidt.

“Fiction is always a popular gift and there are so many great new titles to choose from this May. If you’re looking for a new bestseller, we predict I’d Die for You and Other Lost Stories by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Stars are Fire by Anita Shreve and The Little Breton Bistro by Nina George will fly off the shelves this Mother’s Day.”

If you love cooking, there’s plenty of inspiration in these tasty new cookbooks – Julie Goodwin’s Essential Cookbook, The Everyday Kitchen by Ed Halmagyi and Sharing Plates by Luke Mangan. For those who love nostalgia food, give them a culinary stroll down memory lane with The Australian Women’s Weekly Retro: The Complete Collection.
