Fitbit Versa Lightest and Likeable Fitness Smart Watch – Review

The Fitbit Versa is a likeable fitness tracker and one of the world’s lightest smartwatches.

Fitbit Versa Design

The design of the Fitbit Versa is modern and minimalist. The watches come in classic black, peach and rose-gold aluminium and grey and silver aluminium. There are currently two special editions: charcoal woven and graphite, and lavender woven with rose gold.

I love the watch-like band and it’s easy to keep clean and easy to put on each day. I wouldn’t recommend changing the watch band very often as the pin is difficult to line up – so stick to one strap.

The bands come in peach, light grey, white and periwinkle (light lavender). You can upgrade your Fitbit to a cognac (brown), leather, midnight blue, saddle stitch (honey brown), smart black stitch, and plum leather accessory band. For a more luxe look go with the stainless-steel black metal links, silver metal links, tapered silver metal, and black or silver metal mesh band.

You can navigate easily by tapping the screen, swiping and three buttons.

Fitbit Versa Setup and Help

The setup was easy to complete. You just download the Fitbit app to your smartphone and charge up your tracker. Then you need to sync them. The support pages are well-designed and helpful, although I haven’t used them with the Versa model.

Fitbit Versa Features

The Fitbit Versa has all of the useful features you’ll be used to like counting steps, calories and distance. I’m a huge fan of the reminder to move every hour because I can sit at my computer for hours without a break. My all-time favourite feature is the phone and app notifications.

There is 27/7 heart rate tracking. I like the relaxation sessions – you receive simple instructions and follow the circle as you inhale and exhale. You’ll need to sync your phone to receive the weather.

I don’t wear my Versa to bed, but you can track your sleep patterns and quality. You can also wake up with the silent vibrating alarm.

You can swipe to see the exercise tracking including run, bike, swim, treadmill, weights, interval timer, and workout time. (Think time, calories, bpm max and bpm average). The coach app shows you the exercise (colour animated photo of a person) and then times you.

I find the weekly statistics via a personalised email useful. You can view graphs and scores for the total number of steps, total distance, total floors climbed, total calories burned, weight change and average sleep duration. The app gives you a good overview of the day and acts a progress snapshot.

The battery life is reasonably good and lasts around 4 to 5 days before it needs charging by USB. I hate charging my fitness tracker this regularly and I’d prefer they started using watch batteries. Another drawback is that the USB cord didn’t come with a wall adapter, so I end up using my mobile phone one and it’s a pain when I need to charge them both overnight.

You can make wallet-free payments with Fitbit Pay – but I’m yet to be game enough. (My watch does lights up when I walk through the security bars of the library entrance).

I’ve just started using a dedicated app to track my period, so I’m looking forward to converting over to Fitbit’s female health tracking.

The clock face can be changed and you can download your favourite apps (the Fitbit App Gallery has over 500 compatible apps and clock faces). You can listen to up to 300 songs without your phone, and listen to your Deezer playlists.

The watch is swim-proof and water-resistant to 50 metres.

The Fitbit Versa is so far my favourite fitness tracker, and it can help you reach your fitness goals with useful statistics and a smart modern-looking design. It’s well worth upgrading and exploring all of the features as you go.

Fitbit Versa is compatible with iPhone, Android and Windows phones.
