It’s time for tech journos to slip on their sequins and Sunday best suit – with the 2025 Australian IT Journalism Awards, also known as The Lizzies, set to be held on Friday, 28 March 2025, at the iconic Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf in Sydney.

With a red carpet that could rival the biggest awards ceremonies in the world, this annual event is a prestigious gathering that celebrates the achievements of Australia’s best and brightest tech journalists, recognising their role in advancing an accurate, balanced, and accessible understanding of technology’s impact on society.

(Humble Brag: Last year saw two members of the Women Love Tech team – including editor Robyn Foyster and Journalist Pamela Connellan – place as finalists in four categories.)

Women Love Tech’s Editor Robyn Foyster, was a finalist for Best Corporate Content, Best Independent Coverage and Best Video Program. Women Love Tech Journalist, Pamela Connellan, was a finalist for Best Consumer Technology Coverage at last year’s Australian IT Journalism Awards

Tech journalism in Australia serves a vital role, not only in covering commercial applications but also in analysing broader cultural impacts, from gaming trends to critical commentary on how tech shapes daily life. As the industry continues to evolve rapidly, these awards spotlight journalists who strive to keep the public informed about these sweeping changes. Their efforts contribute to Australia’s commercial growth by keeping audiences engaged with tech advancements and understanding their real-world applications.

This year, industry professionals will once again peer-judge the awards, adding unique credibility to the process by recognising their peers. Last year, ABC proudly took home the award for Best Outlet, showcasing the excellence and dedication that has become the hallmark of The Lizzies. The ceremony promises to be an evening of celebration, camaraderie, and well-deserved recognition of the hard work delivered by the Australian IT journalism community.

For those interested in entering, submissions for the 2025 awards will open in December this year, with entries accepted into the new year for 2024-published content. This early opening provides ample time for journalists to submit their best work, ensuring it gets the recognition it deserves. Keep an eye out for more updates as we approach the official opening of entries, as well as other key events in the lead-up to the awards, including the annual Christmas Party and Season Launch.
