There’s a new gadget vying for your attention as you prepare your spring-summer holiday season – Fujifilm recently announced a medium format mirrorless digital camera called the Fujifilm GFX 50R. It’s premium, it’s portable, it’s vacation ready!
Featuring the Fujifilm G Format (medium format, 43.8×32.9mm) image sensor – which is about 1.7 times the size of a full-frame 35mm image sensor – the newest addition to the GFX range is a compact, lightweight medium format mirrorless digital camera that offers the best quality of images. The GFX range is made especially keeping in mind the needs of different kinds of field photographers.
Not only is it the lightest and slimmest camera to date in the GFX series, it’s also the first one to have a Bluetooth feature, providing an enhanced power of connectivity that’ll come in handy to, well, any user. With the Fujifilm Camera Remote app, you can easily transfer the images from the camera to your smartphone and tablet.
This new camera incorporates a rangefinder style design – this allows photographers to shoot with one eye on their subject and the other one looking through the viewfinder, thereby delivering a better framing for images.

The GFX 50R supports Fujifilm’s Film Simulation modes, which means you can opt for the tonality of photographic films like PROVIA, Velvia, and ACROS – used for a long time in medium format film cameras.
Here are some basic specifications of the GFX 50R:
The GFX 50R will be available at selected camera retailers from late November for $7,099 including GST (RRP).
