Here’s What’s New In Smartphones From The Mobile World Congress 2022 In Barcelona

This week the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022 is being held in Barcelona – one of the biggest events of the year when it comes to new developments in smartphones and other mobile devices.

The MWC hasn’t been held with the public attending since 2019 because of the pandemic so this year is a special year with most of the major companies in this sector making big announcements including Oppo, Huawei, Samsung, OnePlus and Xiaomi.

Here’s a roundup of the biggest news so far from MWC 2022

Oppo announces breakthrough in high-speed flash charging

OPPO announced two breakthroughs in high-speed flash charging at MWC and they are: 150W SUPERVOOC with Battery Health Engine (BHE) and 240W SUPERVOOC flash charge technology. These new flash charging technologies kick off a new era of safe and efficient flash charging and mean you can now fully charge your mobile phone in something like 17 minutes.

The company also unveiled is the latest 5G CPE device, the OPPO 5G CPE T2. While the OPPO 5G CPE T2 makes the ultimate hub for home and offices to enjoy the convenience of 5G network.

HUAWEI launches a range of new products at MWC

HUAWEI introduced a new suite of smart office products including its latest flagship laptop, its first all-in-one PC, a new 2-in-1 laptop, its first E-Ink tablet, a new HarmonyOS tablet, the company’s first-ever printer and a new portable speaker.

Introducing the products at MWC, Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, explained how the company’s new strategy focuses on collaboration for five major scenarios: Health And Fitness, Smart Home, Easy Travel, Smart Office, and Entertainment.

“We are immensely proud of our journey in becoming one of the world’s leading technology providers and giving consumers access to the best IT intelligence at their fingertips,” Yu said. “It has been four years since the start of our Super Device build and today we are very excited to be offering a new smart office experience where any HUAWEI device can be connected to another, to serve as a functional module so their capabilities and resources can be shared efficiently and effectively,” he added.

Samsung revealed the Galaxy Book 2 Pro and Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 at MWC – a pair of premium laptops that bring upgrades like new CPUs and better webcams. 

OnePlus announced the OnePlus 10 Pro is coming to the global market this month, with OxygenOS rather than a new OS. The company also said it’s working ona 150W charging phone which it will release later this year.

TCL reveled a new kind of foldable concept in the form of the TCL Fold and Roll – a book-style folding phone which can extend its display after opening. To see how this looks, check the video out below:

Realme had two pieces of news to share at MWC: its flagship GT 2 series will launch globally at the end of April, and later this year it will also debut a phone with 150W charging. See video below:
