How to Plan Your Social Media Using the Rainbow Colour Code

For people who like working on paper and are perhaps visual learners, you might like to adopt a rainbow code for planning your social media.

First, you’ll need to gather your stationery resources, so head to your favourite shop and buy a blank calendar from Officeworks (or print off some template calendars online). You might like to purchase two A4 ring binder folders for your workings. Then one set of 10 coloured folder dividers, and one set of month dividers.

I developed a colour code for juggling all of my different social media platforms. You might like to swap any of the colour matchings around.

Rainbow Colour Code for Social Media

  • Teal – Twitter
  • Forest Green – Facebook
  • Lime Green – Instagram
  • Bright yellow – YouTube
  • Warm yellow – Pinterest
  • Orange – Email Newsletter
  • Peach – Website
  • Pink – Images
  • Purple – Metrics
  • Dark purple – Reference

You can keep your passwords or copies of important documents here. You could keep helpful instructions that you need to refer to regularly.

Rainbow Colour Code for Social Media Monthly Prompts

I like to keep all of my social media prompts in a ring binder too. I only keep the printouts that are suitable for reuse from year to year. It’s my own perpetual month-to-month reference.

What colour techniques do you use for organising your digital records?
