It’s Easter this weekend and there’s a good chance you have a bit more time to sit back and enjoy some movies. So here are a few good ideas for binge-watching some iconic movies about strong women we think you’ll enjoy or you’d like to watch again as a recap.
Hidden Figures shows the work of some brilliant women
Â
While the male brains at NASA were hard at work racing against Russia to put a rocket man in space before the Russians this movie tells the story of three smart and savvy African-American women who were crunching the numbers and doing the math that would actually get someone to the moon.
Â
Their names were Katherine Johnson (played by Taraji Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (played by Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (played by Janelle Monáe). Thankfully, because of this Oscar-nominated film, these three American women won’t be forgotten and we all know that the race to space was not just a male-dominated domain.

Watch Reese Witherspoon in Wild
Reese Witherspoon is no stranger to good films about strong women. Just take a look at her characters Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Tracy Enid Flick in Election and her most recent performance on The Morning Show as Bradley Jackson.
But for Wild, she took off her makeup and put on her hiking boots, so she could play Cheryl Strayed – the real-life novice who made an 1,100-mile trek up the Pacific Crest Trail solo. Watch what she achieves and enjoy.
