At Lenovo‘s Tech World Shanghai 2025, the tech giant made waves with the announcement of the Lenovo Legion 9i (18″, 10) – a powerful gaming laptop designed for both avid gamers, as well as developers and designers. This latest addition to the Legion family delivers top-tier performance, incorporating cutting-edge AI innovations, superior hardware, and an immersive display that takes gaming to the next level.

Power v precision: Why can’t we have both?

The Lenovo Legion 9i (18″, 10) offers seamless performance even for the most demanding gaming titles. With a focus on both gaming enthusiasts and professionals working in game development, the laptop combines exceptional speed with groundbreaking intelligence.

Jun Ouyang, Lenovo’s Senior VP and General Manager of the Consumer Segment, explains, “Built with top-tier hardware and next-generation AI software innovations, it combines exceptional speed and intelligence – not just for immersive gaming but also to empower game developers, AI engineers, and designers with the performance and 2K 3D support they need to bring their visions to life.”

Immersive experiences

One of the standout features of the Lenovo Legion 9i is its massive 18-inch PureSight display, offering up to 4K resolution in 2D, with optional 2K 3D support. This is a perfect tool for designers, 3D artists, and game developers who need to work in a 3D environment but without relying on external headsets or special glasses. The 3D display uses a combination of eye-tracking technology and lenticular lens arrays to deliver a glasses-free 3D experience, bringing designs to life in a whole new way.

For gamers, the display offers a smooth and fast experience with a 240Hz refresh rate at 4K, and for those seeking even faster frame rates, it can go up to 440Hz at FHD resolution. The 93% screen-to-body ratio ensures you get more screen space for an ultra-wide, uninterrupted view.

AI-enhanced performance

The introduction of AI is also a major highlight of the Legion 9i. The laptop features Lenovo’s AI Core chip and Lenovo AI Engine+, which dynamically adjusts settings to optimize performance depending on the task at hand – whether it’s gaming, rendering, or multitasking. This AI integration extends to Lenovo Legion Space, which synchronises the laptop’s RGB lighting with in-game sound and visuals, enhancing the immersive experience.

Gamers can also benefit from AI-powered features like Game Coach, Game Clip Master, and Game Companion, which help players level up their skills, create shareable content, and receive in-game assistance when needed.

Cool tech … literally

The Legion 9i (18″, 10) doesn’t just boast impressive looks and AI capabilities—it also delivers exceptional performance. Powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, this laptop handles up to 280W of combined CPU and GPU load, ensuring you can run the most resource-intensive games and creative applications with ease.

To keep everything running cool and quiet, Lenovo incorporates the Legion Coldfront Vapor thermal system, which includes a vapor chamber, hyper chamber, and quad fan system, making sure the device remains at optimal temperatures even during long gaming sessions or heavy rendering tasks.

Back(pack) to basics

Alongside the Legion 9i, Lenovo has also unveiled the Legion 18” Armored Backpack II, designed to protect your precious device while adding a touch of style. Featuring an EVA-moulded front shield and double-layered protection in the PC compartment, this backpack ensures your laptop stays safe. It also comes with quick-access pockets for your headset, keyboard, and mouse, making it the perfect companion for gamers on the go.

Sustainability and support

Finally, for eco-conscious consumers, Lenovo’s Legion 9i is eligible for the company’s CO2 Offset Services. Gamers can purchase carbon credits to offset the estimated carbon emissions of their device over its lifecycle, supporting verified climate action projects.

Additionally, Lenovo offers three complimentary months of PC Game Pass5, which grants access to hundreds of games, as well as Legion Ultimate Support6 for round-the-clock access to tech support and performance optimization tips.

Pricing and Availability

Lenovo will release the Legion 9i (18″, 10) in June 2025. Pricing and availability for the ANZ region to be confirmed. However, with its incredible performance, cutting-edge technology, and gamer-focused features, this laptop is set to become a game-changer in the gaming and creative industries.
