Love Song Dedications With LG

The Sydney dating scene is rough. Like, ‘does your wife know you’re taking another woman to dinner’ rough. So, I definitely didn’t hold my breath, waiting for a romantically gifted Hinge match to sweep me off my feet anytime soon. Fortunately, the LG  Radio Optimism campaign offered a much better proposition. One that involved fewer red flags and more synth beats.

The first person to make the (platonic) move and show me what I deserved, was Hannah, my longtime friend from Team Life’s Good. We go way back. And, unlike awkward online attempts at conversations, she already knows my vibe, my taste, and probably my favourite colour (FYI its fluro pink). So, when she slid into my inbox to let me know about Radio Optimism – offering the chance to create a personalised AI-powered power ballad, and then sharing one she’d composed earlier for me … crooning about my virtues as a vision of bubbly joy, I’m not NGL. I was low-key flattered.

So, was Hannah a masquerading as a music producer? Did she once lay down lyrics in a past life? Not quite. Her hidden talents could be attributed to a new campaign by LG that not just riffing on nostalgia for the glory days of late-night radio dedications, but instead taking the concept of the classic radio love song and reinventing it for the TikTok generation. Using AI tools trained on a curated music dataset, users can generate their own song – complete with custom album art – based on whatever vibe they want to send out into the universe. It’s equal parts heartfelt, hilarious, and scarily good at rhyming things with “unicorn.”

The campaign is rooted in real data, too. In LG’s recent global study, 68% of people said they find it harder to make real friends these days, and 1 in 3 said they had only one (or fewer) meaningful connection in the past month. That’s … bleak. But this campaign is all about flipping that narrative. Because nearly 90% of people in the same study also said that when they do feel connected, they feel more optimistic. And who doesn’t need a little more optimism in their daily scroll?

So, could I repay the favour given the slim romantic picking sliding into my DMS? Fortunately, LG’s Radio Optimism campaign includes more than just romantic love songs. In fact, The campaign is part of LG’s ongoing push to bring a little more Life’s Good energy into the world. As digital connections grow more… well, disconnected, the brand is flipping the script. reminding us that it’s the little things, like a song that makes you feel seen (even by a robot), that can bring people closer together.

And so, with in mind – and my new born nephew the only other current object of my affection – I sent over a few prompts, and the AI did the rest. The result was a catchy little number that serenaded little Thrilly with lyrics about being a “magical blessing” and having “energy that lights up a room.”
