Multitasking Masters: How Young Aussies (and Tanya Hennessy) Are Redefining the Modern Juggle

There was a time when “what do you do?” meant just one thing – your job. Fast-forward to 2025, and that question has a million possible answers. Because today’s young Australians, particularly Gen Z and Millennials, are rewriting the rulebook on what it means to live, work, and create. Forget the old-school 9-to-5 – this generation is all about the 24/7 blend. They’re professionals and podcasters, marketers and makeup artists, engineers and Etsy store owners.

And leading the charge is the ever-hilarious, ever-honest Tanya Hennessy – comedian, radio host, content creator, and soon-to-be mum – who’s teamed up with Samsung to spotlight what it really takes to live the multi-hyphenate life.

According to new research from Samsung Electronics Australia, Aussies are embracing this multi-dimensional lifestyle like never before. One in four Millennials now have a side hustle, and nearly one in five from Gen MZ (that’s Millennials plus Gen Z) are diving into content creation. Almost half (48%) still identify as professionals, but they’re also travellers (28%), connectors (25%), nurturers (24%), gamers (21%), fitness enthusiasts (16%), and creatives (16%). Basically, this is a generation that refuses to be put in a box – unless it’s a very chic foldable phone box.

Rather than clocking in and out, young Aussies are blurring the boundaries between work, play, and passion. Nearly 30% of Gen MZ say they mix their day with moments of creativity, connection, and learning – whether that’s editing TikToks between Zoom meetings or answering emails from a yoga mat. Almost half are prioritising wellness, and 40% are focusing on self-development, proof that the new definition of “success” is as much about balance as it is about ambition.

Enter Samsung’s latest tech drop: the brand’s slimmest foldables yet – the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7. Designed for those who switch between roles faster than you can say “multitasker”, these sleek new devices are basically pocket-sized powerhouses. They’ve got everything from Galaxy AI to Gemini Live (yep, you can ask your phone to find you ideas, plan your day, and manage tasks without even switching apps), plus camera features that make content creation effortless.

And for Tanya, they’re the ultimate life-saver. “We’re living in a time where being a multi-hyphenate isn’t just accepted – it’s celebrated,” she says. “I’m a radio host, a podcaster, a writer, and a content creator – I’m constantly switching between professional and hyper-creative – and I need tech that’s going to keep up and ideally make that easier for me.”

Her go-to? The Galaxy Flip7. “It’s got a brilliant camera and editing features, and it acts as its own tripod, so I don’t need to carry anything. I just set it down, take the shot, and go.” (Somewhere, every influencer’s sore arm just breathed a sigh of relief.)

The research also reveals that nearly 70% of Australians rely on their mobile phones to juggle work, life, and creative pursuits – though it’s not always smooth sailing. More than one in five admit they feel overwhelmed by the number of apps and lack of seamless integration. That’s where Samsung wants to step in: to simplify, streamline, and help users feel a little less frazzled by the daily juggle.

Nathan Rigger, Head of Product, Mobile eXperience at Samsung Australia, says the new foldables are designed to do just that. “The new Fold7 and Flip7 mark a shift in how we think about our smartphones – they’re not just devices, but everyday companions. From personalised updates that keep you ahead of the day to hands-free help when you need it most, these foldables are built to take the pressure off busy, multitasking lives and give Australians more freedom to focus on what matters most.”

Available in Jet Black, Blue Shadow, Coral Red, Silver Shadow, and a minty Samsung.com exclusive, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7 look as good as they perform. Prices start from $1,799 for the Flip7 and $2,899 for the Fold7 – the ultimate investment for anyone balancing spreadsheets one minute and shooting reels the next.
