Nokia 1.3 Review: An Affordable Entry Level Smartphone

An inexpensive, entry level smartphone. First impression is this is a great value for money device with a high definition screen and simple yet good functionality. Best of all is its incredibly low price point – just AU $169 RRP.

Available in charcoal, it has a high definition edge-to-edge screen and comes in simple packaging and a removable battery. The device has a textured back with little give in the plastic casing showing its pretty solid. Compared to the original Nokia 1, it has a bigger screen and is a dual SIM device with Micro SD, 1gb of RAM and 16 Gb of storage. It has good speed thanks to the optimised Qualcomm 215 Mobile Platform and all-day battery life with its 3000mAh battery.

This smartphone runs smoothly and benefits from being the first smartphone to launch with Android 10 (Go Addition) OS. With smaller app sizes, more storage space, and more control over how your content is stored, Android 10 (Go edition) helps you save space whenever it’s needed. It also means you will stay up-to-date with a device that will be ready for Android 11 (Go edition).

Nokia 1.3
Nokia 1.3 can be at an arm’s length and you can ask Google Assistant to help you.

The Nokia 1.3 is also among the first smartphones to have Camera Go which is a great addition and means you can track how much photo and video storage space you have left, and helps you clear space when you need to.

Gallery Go is also integrated with Camera Go, which makes your photos more shareable. The benefits include saving time finding the right picture even when offline and it automatically organises your photos so you can easily find your favourite selfie, as well as one- tap editing features.

Personally, I love the fact that the Nokia 1.3 has a button dedicated to Google Assistant. This means you can ask questions by simply pressing the button on the side which also learns and adapts with every use.

There are also monthly data plans with powerful data saving features allowing you to choose which apps use your data and when.

Nokia 1.3 Modern technology at an affordable price

The 5.71” HD+ screen also produces decent pictures with its ability to take shots indoors and outdoors thanks to its AI-powered low light image fusion technology. In addition to a rear 8MP auto focus camera with LED Flash, Nokia 1.3 comes with a 5MP front-facing camera and brightness boost, so you can take your selfies to the next level too.

It’s hard not to recommend this smartphone at the below price.

Top Features of the Nokia 1.3

  • Google Duo – pre-loaded on the device, Google Duo has the ability to bring together up to 12 people on a group call, so sharing moments with family and friends has never been easier whether on Android or iOS
  • Gallery Go – grandparents will never miss a moment whether receiving adorable photos of a new baby or a grandkid’s magnificent artwork
  • Camera Go – takes beautiful photos without worrying about speed or storage, the clean and simple interface makes capturing a photo easier than ever
  • Guaranteed monthly security updates for three years and OS updates for two years
