As a tech-obsessed and green-minded millennial, it’s often difficult to find the right gift for your like-minded friends or partner.

Or for yourself!

Let’s be honest, there are only so many eco-friendly skateboards you can keep buying; but smart home accessories are endless, and we’ve got the perfect buy that’s technologically innovative, zero-waste, and sustainable, for either yourself or that hard-to-shop-for person in your life who seems to have it all – OrchidBox, the world’s first mini smart terrarium.

A Dallas startup founded by hobby horticulturalist Nathan Hollis, OrchidBox is an innovative way of making gardening less of just a back garden activity, and a more easily-accessible green solution for your workplace or home.

Consisting of a box crafted of man-made materials (museum-grade acrylic and high-efficiency LED lighting) and equipped with Wifi enabled software, OrchidBox is the epitome of what gardening looks like in 2018 – stylish and sustainable in every way!

The OrchidBox App also allows you to keep track of your terrariums remotely. You’ll get automated alerts when the water level is low, you can set GPS coordinates to sync your terrarium’s light settings with natural sunrise and sunset time, change light settings, set pre-programmed environments (full sun, part sun, full shade, part shade), and turn the box on or off remotely.

And of course, what goes inside the box is completely up to you – it’s engineered to provide a nurturing, life-supporting space where you can cultivate rare, endangered, super cool, and notoriously hard-to-grow plants like orchids, Venus fly traps, and succulents. You can also grow vegetables, herbs, flowers, and houseplants.

You choose what you want to grow or raise, and OrchidBox ensures you’ll not only be able to keep them alive, but you’ll help them thrive. All you have to do is just ensure that your smartphone is charged, your terrarium is plugged in, and that you follow the few simple instructions, and you’re set!

Each OrchidBox includes the box, a power adapter, base, charcoal and rock base substrate, and tweezers.

The company is trying to build out an email list before officially launch their Kickstarter campaign, aimed at allowing them to ship the product by the end of the year.
