Panasonic’s successor to the LUMIXLX7 builds upon current technology available to enthusiast photographers that provide a suite of tools to enhance the user experience.
Launched late last year, Panasonic’s LUMIX LX10 adds to their wide variety of enthusiast to professionally classed cameras. Notably, the LX10 incorporates a larger 1-inch sensor (producing an enormous 20.1 Megapixel image) that provides greater sensitivity when capturing images resulting in both outstanding quality and detail retention in highlight and shadow regions. The larger sensor also enabled the camera’s 4K capabilities in both video and image capturing.
Our hands-on experience with the LUMIX LX10 gave us both insight and a greater appreciation of its design.
It fits comfortably during one-handed use, and holding the device with both hands adds greater control and stability.
Various rings and switches located at the top of the camera provide intuitive (and customisable) control surfaces to important user settings including aperture and shutter speed. Our favourite feature of the LX10 was undoubtedly the tilt-adjustable monitor; enabling dynamic framing for certain artistic positions (i.e., near ground level).
The monitor also implements touch screen technology such that UI navigation is familiar to our beloved mobile phones.

Some concerns our team expressed through our time with the LX10 included the short battery life, auto focus performance, and start up times.Whilst these may certainly influence and potentially restrict the reliability of the LX10, such are unlikely to significantly affect the overall experience of the user.
The LUMIX LX10 demonstrations Panasonic’s masterful unification of both design and functionality to heighten the user experience; the small body (weighing only 310 grams) combined with its wide range of powerful functions adds versatility and mobility unattainable through conventional mobile phone cameras.
