Streaming: Yes, Loki’s Back And Isla Fisher Has A New Show

Yes, that’s right – Loki’s back with his own Marvel series simply titled: Loki. The new show debuted on May 9th on Disney+ so now this long-awaited series – featuring Owen Wilson who plays the role of a Time Variance Authority Officer who has to reign Loki in. Plus, Australia’s Isla Fisher will star in a new original series from Stan called Wolf Like Me, also starring Josh Gad. The series will begin shooting in Australia in the coming months.

Marvel Studios’ Loki will debut on Wednesday June 9th on Disney+

Tom Hiddleston has let us all know that Loki will premiere two days ahead of schedule on June 9th on Disney+ The new series features of course the God of Mischief – Loki – as he steps out of his brother’s shadow after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Tom Hiddleston returns as Loki, joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. Kate Herron is the director and Michael Waldron is head writer.

The great thing is the person holding the God of Mischief accountable is none other than Owen Wilson. He steps into the role of a Time Variance Authority officer who’s been following Loki’s every move, every backstab and every single moment of messing things up until he warped out with the Cube and formed another timeline.

After running around in this newly-formed timeline for however long, Loki’s then captured by the TVA team and brought into the Time Keepers’ realm to help mend the reality he created, and restore the track of time. So we have a series which is pretty much mostly about Loki having to retrace his various realities to actually pay his dues.

Considering Wanda Vision was so great and Falcon & Winter Soldier is still proving the MCU works in series format, this will be worth watching to see the God of Mischief really showing his true colours. For more – take a look at the video below where Tom Hiddleston talks more about Loki’s place in the Marvel Studios’ line of characters.

Loki will stream from Wednesday June 9th on Disney+…

Isla Fisher’s new series comes from acclaimed producers, Jodi Matterson (Nine Perfect Strangers), Bruna Papandrea (Big Little Lies) and Steve Hutensky (The Dry). The genre-bending six-part drama series will begin shooting in Australia in the coming months.

Stan commissioned the brand new series in association with NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock, in the US. The six-part, half-hour drama series will star Josh Gad (Frozen, Beauty and the Beast) and AACTA Award-winning Australian actress Isla Fisher (Arrested Development, Wedding Crashers).

Wolf Like Me is reported to be a heartfelt drama, written by three-time AACTA Award nominee Abe Forsythe (Little Monsters) and it’s based on his own life experience as a 40-something single parent. Forsythe will also direct all six episodes of the series.

The story line is all about a new relationship where Gary (Gad) is an emotional wreck and struggles to provide for his daughter since the death of his wife. Mary (Fisher) has a secret she can’t bring herself to share with anyone.

Writer and director Abe Forsythe said: “Wolf Like Me is a very meaningful project for me, the stakes are extremely high but grounded by things we can all relate to. I’m so excited to have Isla and Josh on board and I know the audience will be surprised seeing them in a different way as these characters. I was never going to tell this story with anyone other than Made Up Stories and I feel very fortunate for us all to be teaming up with Endeavor Content and to have found a home with Peacock and Stan.”

Made Up Stories’ Jodi Matterson, Bruna Papandrea and Steve Hutensky said: “After our partnership with Abe on Little Monsters, we were excited to find another project to collaborate on. Abe is just one of those rare talents, with an incredibly distinctive voice. As soon as he explained the concept for Wolf Like Me, we knew we had to be part of it. And we couldn’t be happier to have Isla Fisher and Josh Gad on board, they are perfect for the roles of Mary and Gary.”

Stan’s Chief Content Officer Nick Forward said: Wolf Like Me promises to be a premium Australian made drama that will see Stan expand its partnership with NBCUniversal and Peacock. We look forward to seeing the talented production team at Made Up Stories, alongside Abe Forsythe, Josh Gad and Isla Fisher, bring this world-class Australian story to life.”

Production on the Stan series, Wolf Like Me, will begin production in Australia soon…
