TechWomen50 Awards: Celebrating Women’s Contribution in Tech

There is no denying that there is a shortfall of women at all levels working in the technology space. So it’s good to see more women in tech events and awards to celebrate those women doing their thing in tech.

WeAreTechWomen, together with WeAreTheCity, recently announced the launch of TechWomen50 Awards in the UK for emerging tech talent.

They will be highlighting the many greatest achievements of senior and up and coming women in tech in Britain.

The 2017 Shortlist

Established by WeAreTechWomen, the 2017 shortlist features 100 women in tech, in individual category and company/corporations. There are 5 corporations who are nominated for Company of the Year award.

Kayleigh Bateman, Head of WeAreTechWomen said, “Over the course of my career, I have seen some truly talented and inspirational women who have been recognised by a multitude of awards.”

“Our hope is that by recognising not just our shortlist of 100, but also those that champion women in tech too, we can encourage more organisations to follow their lead.”

Also speaking about the awards, Baroness Joana Shields, OBE, Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Internet Safety said, ““Platforms such as the TechWomen50 Awards are so important to continue the tech industry’s mission for gender parity. These awards shine a light on up and coming emerging talent for the IT sector to see, hire, retain and value.”

Over 500 nominations were submitted. Judges of the said awards had a hard time to arrive with a shortlist due to amazing achievements of the nominees.

The final list will be announced on the 11th of December. The nominees will be invited to attend the awards ceremony in January.
