Trending or Ending? The Biggest Content Creation Trends Set to Land in Australian Feeds in 2025

Hold onto your ring lights, Australian content creators – 2025 is going to be a year of big changes! According to the Fujifilm Forecast: Content Creation Trends for 2025, a new survey of creators has revealed the top trends that are set to shape the future of content creation. Spoiler alert: AI is coming for your feeds. And TikTok? Well, let’s just say its future in Australia might be … as shaky as a FYP dance.

The AI-volution

AI has popped out of the office and is about to redefine the content creation corner. Over a third (34%) of Australian creators believe AI will completely change the trends in 2025, and it’s not just about what we create – it’s also about how we create it. Creators are excited about AI’s potential to improve content quality (28%) and to help make the whole process more accessible, thanks to handy tools like auto-captioning and editing software.

But – and it’s a big but – there’s a catch. As much as creators are embracing AI, many are concerned about its impact on human creativity. A solid 39% are worried AI will devalue the very art of content creation. There’s a fine line between helpful tech and becoming too reliant on it, after all.

Virtual influencers are taking over

You know that feeling when you’re scrolling through your feed and come across someone you think is a person… but they’re not? Well, you’re not imagining things – virtual influencers and AI personas are on the rise. A whopping 27% of creators see this as a trend that’s already making waves and will only grow in 2025. Will your favourite influencer be a digital character by next year? Stay tuned.

The real (reel) deal

If you haven’t jumped on the short-form video bandwagon, now’s the time to do so. Whether it’s TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts, 65% of content creators are betting their future on short-form video. These bite-sized gems will continue to dominate in 2025, with 46% predicting that they’ll have the biggest impact on the content landscape.

Short-form videos are here to stay, and they’re not just for cat videos and dance challenges. Creators are using these platforms to educate, entertain, and even build communities. Who knew a 15-second clip could have so much power?

The influencer income gap

It’s not all rainbows and unicorns in the creator economy. Despite the massive boom in content creation, 51% of Australian creators aren’t making money off their craft – yet. But don’t get discouraged. More than half would love to turn their passion into a paycheck. The biggest hurdle? Balancing content creation with other responsibilities, like a full-time job. For many, it’s a juggling act that could leave you feeling like a circus performer.

But here’s the silver lining: businesses are starting to recognise the power of creator partnerships. Over a third (38%) of content creators see brand collaborations and sponsorships as a prime opportunity for 2025. So, it might be time to start reaching out to those brands you love. Or, better yet, get your community to help you score those sponsorships.

Snaps are the star

If you thought photography was just a side gig for content creators, think again. Photography is leading the charge as the content type creators plan to dive into in 2025, with 52% planning to focus on it. Whether it’s snapping stunning landscapes, cool product shots, or even lifestyle pics, the visual aspect of content creation is set to soar. Right behind photography, educational (35%) and travel content (31%) are next in line.

And let’s face it: the pressure is on. Creators know that a perfectly curated feed is key to standing out. The challenge? Keeping it fresh and original, especially when so many are jumping on the same trends. But hey, if you can pull off that jaw-dropping shot, you’re in the game.

So, what does this mean for you?

For the creators out there (and aspiring creators, too), 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting and challenging year. AI will play a huge role, virtual influencers will rise, and short-form video will reign supreme. But with all these opportunities, there’s still the nagging concern about balancing creativity with the pressure to make money.

So, whether you’re snapping pics, editing videos, or getting creative with AI, one thing is for sure: Australian content creators are in for a wild ride in 2025. Keep your eyes on the trends, adapt where you can, and get ready to shape the content landscape like never before.
