Women Love Tech Celebrates 2017 International Women’s Day

Every person, business and brand can play a part in helping drive better outcomes for women.

Women Love Tech has partnered with global tech educator General Assembly, International Women’s Day [IWD] and other thought leaders to celebrate creating a more gender inclusive world.

IWD provides us with an opportunity to discuss and take action that can truly drive greater change for women.

As part of an ongoing effort to foster an inclusive tech community and break down barriers to tech education, General Assembly is celebrating IWD 2017 by showcasing female leaders who are spearheading local innovation in tech, culture, social media, and politics.

It’s assembled a panel of incredible women – and Women Love Tech is proud to take part as I join the panel – to share our stories of trials, tribulations and successes in each of our respective fields at a free event in Sydney on March 8.

Joining myself in Sydney are: Angela Priestley (Moderator), Associate Publisher, Women’s Agenda; Camilla Gulli  Social Content Editor, Vodafone Australia; Alyce Tran Co-Founder and Creative Director, The Daily Edited, Cassie Dessein COO, Hey You; and Moe Kiss Product Analyst/Digital Analytics, THE ICONIC.

There is also a Melbourne line-up on the same day which includes Kirsteene Phelan, Director of Communications at Girl Geek Academy; Suzanne Tonks, Director, Oliver & York Public Affairs; Angie Greene, CEO, Stand Up Events; Dhakshy Sooriyakumaran Cofounder & Director of YLab, a social enterprise of the Foundation for Young Australians, and Nithya Gopu Solomon, Executive Lead, Innovation Office, VicHealth.

General Assembly’s Denise Chippindale says that as education providers, General Assembly has a strong focus on providing a balanced and inclusive workplace.

“We have a strong team that encourages us to be leaders within our own scope of influence.”

As influencers in the tech community, General Assembly partners with various brands and local businesses to run free events that empower and drive positive change for women and the community in general.
