The ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has welcomed in the Zephyrus G14 gaming notebook which packs in a lot of power in a small, slim form.

With innovative LED, high-quality and high-res visuals, and high-speed performance, the G14 is truly next-level when it comes to gaming and other high-performance demanding actions like video editing.

Zephyrus G14 Gaming Notebook features in-depth

Small size, big impact

At only 17.9mm thin and 1.6kg without the custom LED matrix, the G14 is the perfect fit for your backpack or conventional laptop bags. Even though it is thin, it remains sturdy thanks to the honeycomb reinforcements beneath the palm rest, the Magnesium-aluminum alloy deck, and the tough but light aluminium.

Innovative LED

Thanks to the AniMe Matrix Display across the lid, users can personalise their notebook in any way they want by importing gifs, building custom animations frame by frame, and typing text messages with different fonts.

Additional features to the ROG Splash like email notifications, date, time, and battery level will be added at the end of Q1.

Vivid visuals and high resolution

The Zephyrus G14 comes with up to a GeForce RTX 2060 augmented by ROG Boost up to 1298MHz at 65W. The combination of programmable shading, real-time ray tracing, and artificial intelligence makes for improved lighting, shadows, and other in-game effects.

The G14’s ability to game and stream simultaneously is also largely down to the NVIDIA Turing-based GPU, which put together with the specialised hardware, creates higher stream quality with minimal performance impact.

In terms of the G14’s display, users have two options: Full HD or a WQHD resolution. The Full HD display goes up to 120Hz and doubles the speed of typical laptop displays for a smoother experience. The WQHD is a higher-resolution option.

AMD Freesync also adds to the smooth experience by synchronising the refresh rate of the display with the frame rate of the GPU to eliminate visual tearing which minimises lagging during gameplay.

High-speed…all day long

The Zephyrus G14 uses special 35W variations based on the fastest 4th Gen Ryzen Mobile CPUs that have 45W because 45W is too high for this small form factor. This means that there’s still power for potentially draining actions like video editing and 3D rendering, and for heavy multitasking like mixing gaming with streaming, recording, and chats. The best part about all this is that the 7nm fabrication technology that essentially condenses all this power into such a small, efficient package, the Zephyrus G14 can be used for much longer off-charge.

But if the battery does run low, Type-C charging allows users to charge while they’re on the move, wherever they are.

And there’s no need to stress over your storage for all your big projects. With up to 32GB of fast DDR4-3200 RAM across dual channels and an NVMe SSD with up to 1TB of capacity, space will the least of your concerns.

Performance and versatility

The Type-C port is not only good for its charging but also for displaying an external monitor via DisplayPort 1.4. The HDMI port means that you can game or watch movies on a 4K monitor or TV.

The Zephyrus G14 also features Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) connectivity which boosts interface bandwidth, reduces latency for less lag, and expands upstream capacity so that more bandwidth can be used for live-streaming.

Additional features

  • Dolby Atmos sound brings greater depth and direction with a range of audio experiences
  • Fingerprint login integrated into the power button – a single press wakes the machine and briefly caches a user’s fingerprint, saving it to authenticate when Windows is ready to log in

Availability and pricing

The RRP of the Zephyrus G14 starts from $2,199, and will be available from the end of April at Asus authorised resellers and retailers. The local models will feature up to AMD R9-4900HS processor, RTX2060 graphics card, 512 SSD, memory of 8G*2, 14” WQHD (60Hz) with White / Grey Dot Matrix.
