There are so many apps to track your movements, steps, and calories burned on the market, but most of them you have to think about turning them on and off before and after your start exercising. In my case, early the morning,  I’m never completely awake and most of the times I  forgot to turn on my tracking app. This is why today I share with you this great app: Moves. Let’s see together 3 reasons why this exercising app was named Best App of 2013.

1 – Step counter
Moves is a pedometer that helps you get fit by walking more. See how many steps you take and aim for a healthy exercise goal of 10,000 steps a day. Moves 2.0 uses M7 for increased accuracy on iPhone 5s.
2 – Calorie counter

Moves calculates calorie burn for your activities. You can also view your daily idle calorie burn.

3 – What’s the benefit?

Seeing your everyday exercise helps you think about your life in a new way. Start with small changes that can lead to healthy habits and losing weight naturally.

How Does It Work?

Moves automatically records any walking, cycling, and running you do. You can view the distance, duration, steps, and calories burned for each activity. The activity tracker is always on, so there’s no need to start and stop it. Just keep your phone in your pocket or your bag.

Features

– Automatically tracks walking, cycling and running – Recognizes the places in your daily life – Shows your day as a simple storyline – Plots your routes on a map – Step counter (pedometer) – Calories burned for each activity

Downside: Battery Consumption

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Moves has been designed to use GPS and other sensors sparingly. The app relies mostly on acceleration data, cell tower and Wi-Fi locations. The new Battery Saving Mode will further minimize battery consumption when stationary in a place. Another downside and yet funny, for obvious reasons, you can’t take your smartphone with you in the water. If you are a swimmer you still have to count your lapses!

 Review

“This gorgeous fitness companion maps your daily activities and tracks the calories you’ve burned using a simple and beautiful timeline. You’ll be consistently surprised and delighted as it chronicles where you’ve been and the steps it took to get there—all from within your pocket.” You can get this app for Android or iPhone. Price $2.99
