It’s been a while since I’ve needed to translate any text into English, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how Google Translate had upped its game.

Google Translate is a must have app if you are travelling overseas and wanting to overcome language barriers.

Google’s Translate online website and app allows you to connect with people, places and cultures across language barriers. It even allows two-way translation.

The Translate app promises to be a personal interpreter in your pocket. You can also use it in offline mode and with a desktop. Here you can upload longer text and documents for translation help.

Google translate can assist with:

  • Translating written words
  • Translating text in other apps
  • Translating images
  • Translating by speech
  • Translating a bilingual conversation
  • Translating web pages and documents
  • Translating handwriting

You can even use the Translate app to take a photo of a sign or a menu to be instantly translated.

You can also download a language pack for instant translations offline to save on data usage.

If you are bilingual and have some spare time, you might even like to contribute to the community by translating words and phrases, or check if a translation is correct.

Google Translate is available for Android and iOs devices.

About Google Translate

The Google Translate app, on iOS or Android, is the most powerful way to translate between over 100 languages. Sure, you can type in a phrase and get a translation on your desktop computer, but there’s, even more, you can do on your mobile.
