Apple Music Classical App: The World’s Largest Classical Music Catalogue

Apple Music Classical is a standalone streaming app offering the largest classical music catalogue with an optimized search feature and high audio quality. Plus, it features Spatial Audio for a more immersive experience. Available on the App Store, it’s included with most Apple Music subscriptions at no extra cost (excluding the Apple Music Voice Plan).

“Apple Music Classical is an exceptional streaming service that celebrates diverse artists, embraces legendary recordings and inspires curiosity in all of us., said composer Gordon Getty. “Apple has created a unique experience worthy of our passion, and I am confident it will advance the cause of music for generations to come.”

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma, who was involved in the making of the app, said: “Classical music — and all of culture — is fundamentally about connection, about forging bonds of understanding across time and space. It’s innovations like this that make that connection possible, that give us space for our curiosity to run, to rediscover the familiar and to rejoice in the unexpected.”

Largest Classical Catalogue

With over five million tracks, Apple Music Classical offers a vast range from famous recordings to rare finds. Beginners can start with Editor’s Choice selections, while experienced listeners can explore popular recordings and exclusive albums.

Optimized Search for Classical Music

Understanding the complexity of classical music, Apple Music Classical’s search engine uses various keywords such as composer, work, opus number, conductor, artist, or instrument to deliver precise results. Users can find all recordings of a piece or discover all works by a composer.

User-Friendly Interface

The interface provides clear information on what’s playing: work name, orchestra, conductor, artists, and recording year. Users can add albums, tracks, playlists, as well as specialized categories like works and composers to their library.

Superior Audio Quality

Apple Music Classical supports up to 24 bit/192 kHz lossless audio, offering high-resolution clarity. With Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, listeners enjoy an immersive concert hall experience. New Spatial Audio albums are added weekly.

Expert Playlists and Insights

Editors have curated over 700 playlists covering 800 years of music. Beginners can explore with audio guides, while dedicated listeners get behind-the-scenes commentary and discover hidden gems and new perspectives on famous composers.

Exploration made easy

Apple Music Classical’s Browse tab helps listeners explore the classical catalogue in the world, guided by their interests, from composers, instruments and periods, to conductors, orchestras and choirs, as well as classical genres such as chamber music and stage works.

The app also features new artwork, including playlist covers and digital portraits of renowned composers, created by diverse artists using Mac and iPad. These images combine historical research with period-specific colours and styles, featuring figures like Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Tchaikovsky.
