Apply For Green Grant programme, the HATCH: Taronga Accelerator Program 2021 NOW. Here, Danielle Fryday, HATCH prorgamme Manager and Community Conservation and Engagement Officer at Taronga Conservation Society Australia, reports.

Taronga Conservation Society Australia are excited to launch the HATCH: Taronga Accelerator Program for 2021! Take a look at the HATCH website for all the program details and link to apply.

HATCH launched in 2020 to inspire, support and launch innovative ideas and actions to help address some of the most pressing environmental and conservation challenges currently facing our planet. Despite the COVID-19 restrictions the inaugural program was a great success, supporting five inspiring sustainability initiatives through a fully online program and awarding the $50,000 HATCH Grant to edible coffee cup founders Good-Edi!

This year we are hopeful to run the program as a combination of onsite immersives at Taronga Zoo in Sydney and weekly online sessions. If you have an innovative idea, product or service that can positively impact Australia wildlife or the natural environment, we would love to hear from you!

Tips for potential applicants:

  • Read the Application Guide and familiarise yourself with the questions, eligibility and selection criteria.
  • Join us for an Information Session to learn more about the program and ask your questions.
  • In your application be clear on how your initiative connects to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Taronga 360 approach to conservation, and how your solution is different to/better than other existing initiatives.
  • Be sure to include the short video in your application – we want to get to know you and why you are so passionate about the issue you are tackling!

Applications are open now through until Tuesday 11 May, 2021. The HATCH Program will run from mid-July to Mid-October and will culminate in an exciting final pitch event, where the participating teams will present their initiatives to a judging panel and the general public to compete for the major HATCH Grant and the People’s Choice Award

If you’re looking for some inspiration or want to learn more about the HATCH 2020 teams, check out the 2020 pitch event recording. For program updates sign up to the mailing list and join the program community on LinkedIn.
