Snapchat has released a new lens that brings bills to life by showing users around the world what their donations are going towards and how they can help medical workers on the frontline fight COVID-19.

Snapchatters have been able to access the latest news and information via the Discover tab. By regularly updating it, Snapchat is providing tips and information about COVID-19 from reliable sources like the World Health Organisation and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and even including Q&As with medical experts. To date, over 68 million Snapchatters worldwide have viewed COVID-19-related content on Snapchat.

Now, as an addition, a new AR lens can be used to show how potential donations can go towards supporting the WHO’s COVID-19 response fund.

How does the Snapchat lens work?

By simply opening your camera, users can scan a $20 note to get more information on the positive affects that donating can have, watch below:

The lens shows how a single donation can go towards patient care, medical supplies, and research and development.

It was launched in partnership with the United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund in support of the WHO, and will direct Snapchatters to the donation page for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO.

Snapchat has also launched the new feature ‘Here For You’ aiming to help people dealing with mental health issues like anxiety, depression, stress, suicidal thoughts, grief, and bullying.

To donate, visit https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/donate.
