Meet Rolyat, an innovative costume designer, model, and Twitch streamer! Rolyat excels where self-expression meets craftsmanship, fueling her passion for designing cosplay creations. After sharing her journey online, Rolyat went viral, and now has fanbases of 136K on TikTok and 45K followers on Twitch!

We caught up with Rolyat to find out more about her inspiration and her tips for becoming an innovative Cosplayer.

Tell us what you love about Twitch?

I love the feeling of community! I love how Twitch brings people together who share the same interests, whether it’s gaming, or just hanging out. It’s like being part of this big, supportive family where everyone has your back. And the best part? The live interaction during streams is just so much fun! I love being able to play video games with my friends, as well as chatting with my fans in real-time. Twitch is just such a cool place to connect and be yourself!

What is the inspiration that guides you?

My inspiration comes from many sources beyond the cosplay community. I would say my biggest inspiration is my mom. Growing up she was so hardworking, loving and kind. She taught me everything I know about sewing, and I am so grateful for that.

As for cosplay, I seek new inspiration from games I play, movies and tv shows that I like or characters I can relate to. Sometimes I even see characters or franchises that are being discussed in the media, and I’ll see something that I think I can create, and go from there!

Why is being a Cosplayer so much fun?

Being a cosplayer is so much fun because there are no limits on what you can do, be or create. I always find it so inspiring when I see others add their own personal touch to their cosplays. I think it’s also pretty cool to reenact a character that has a personal connection to you, and live vicariously through them for the day.

Another factor I love is the challenging side of things. I typically make all of my cosplays myself, so challenging myself to learn a new sewing technique or work out how I’m going to achieve something is always fun.

What are your tips for becoming an innovative Cosplayer?

To become an innovative cosplayer, here are a few of my tips:

  • Experimenting with different materials and techniques when creating costumes is so much fun. Never be afraid to try something new!
  • Collaborate with other cosplayers and friends to exchange ideas and learn from each other’s experiences.
  • Don’t be afraid to put your unique spin on costumes and characters.
  • Embrace failure as part of the learning process and use it as an opportunity to grow and improve.

Future plans – what’s next?

I have so much coming soon! I’m excited to continue expanding my brand and trying new things. In the next few months you can expect the release of an exciting new project I’ve been working on! A few new cosplays of characters I’ve never cosplayed before! I’m also looking forward to getting back into streaming more frequently!
