Coffee snobs rejoice. Thanks to the new De’Longhi PrimaDonna Soul you no longer have to go to your local coffee shop to experience the same Barista-style latte. This fully automated beans to cup is a joy to use, makes your kitchen look modern and is ideal for anyone, like me, who simply can’t start the day without my first cup of coffee.

For me, being able to wake up knowing I don’t have to step foot outside my door to make a world class coffee is a daily joy.

It’s a world apart from cheaper coffee machines – this one being a premium machine with all the bells and whistles – and while you need to pay extra for that you’ll be saving on the fact you don’t need to pay exorbitant prices at your local coffee shop every day. Having said that, I still go to my local cafe because it’s where I meet friends.

What is particularly impressive about the De’Longhi PrimaDonna Soul is the huge range of coffee or milk beverages it offers and the fact that you can customise it so that it’s exactly to your taste. Of course, it’s easy to impress your guests too when you can offer more than just a flat white but also a Cortado, Over Ice, Long Black, or Espresso. In fact there are 21 types of coffee, tea and milk-based beverage options in all. You can build profiles for everyone at home and personalise different types of tea or coffee for everyone. So if you like your Oolong tea warm and your flat white hot, then you can set it up so that it delivers the same quality beverage each time.

Mug to Go is one of my favourites – and for that’s the coffee I want when I’m rushing out the door to do an early kayak. A hot espresso in case you are asking.

You’ll find the LCD display is easy to use and it will also let you know when you need to fill up the coffee beans or water container or when it’s time to descale the machine.

But it’s the technology behind this beautiful machine that gets me excited. The patented Bean Adapt Technology sets it apart from other run-of-the-mill coffee machines. It is the result of thousands of hours of coffee tasting done by the most influential coffee experts. What is crucial here is ensuring the perfect coffee extraction whilst preserving and exalting the flavours and aromas of your preferred coffee beans. And from the taste of the coffees I make, it looks like the coffee tasters did their job well.

If you want to get the most out of this all singing and dancing coffee beans to cup machine, then it’s worth connecting to the De’Longhi Coffee Link App. Once you’ve synchronised the machine with the app, you’ll discover some handy features including all of the recipes available which will encourage you to experiment with different styles of coffee. There’s really no excuse to be boring when it comes to choosing coffee styles if you own one of these machines. That would be like having a Ferrari and never putting it into the top gear. For instance, I’m now addicted to the Cortado. For those in the know, a Cortado consists of Espresso mixed with a roughly equal amount of warm milk to reduce the acidity. The milk in a Cortado is steamed, but not frothy and “texturized” as in many Italian coffee drinks. It is simply delicious.

Here’s some useful videos to watch if you want to set your PrimaDonna Soul up and get the most from it. Bon Cafe.
