Review: Kena: Bridge of Spirits Game

Kena Bridge of Spirits is a beautifully animated world full of lust forests, ancient ruins and spirits. You’ll need to defeat evil spirits; release trapped spirits and regenerate the forest.

Kena has the help of some cute black creatures collectively called the Rot. These little black guys can help you move objects and alter the environment.

The video game was created by Ember Lab, an independent game developer and animation studio.  It was created with a team of talented artists, animators and musicians. Kena’s personality is conveyed by using a library of expressions, hand and hair poses. The soundtrack features music from traditional Balinese musicians.

It’s a smaller-scale adventure that’s meant to be achievable over a weekend (mere mortals may take longer). There is fast-paced combat and puzzle-solving. If you’re stuck, there are helpful hints videos.

The fights can be a little on the harder side. You can use your shield to block attacks, dodge and hit with your staff. Fortunately, you can select your difficulty level.

Perhaps there will be a follow-up animation film where we can get to know more about Kena.

Kena features a lovely world to explore with some cute characters and some formidable foes to conquer.
