Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: The Noughties Trend We’re Willing to Welcome Back

The noughties continue to make a resurgence. And, while there are some questionable 00s fads that we sincerely hope are not revisited (bubble skirts and belly chains are on our banned list!), we have a soft spot for the flip phones that we once proudly paired with our platform flip flops. Alongside a nostalgic aesthetic that wouldn’t look out of place alongside some of the most iconic pop culture moments of years gone (including Adele’s sassy phone flip in her Hello music video), here are all the reasons we loved the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6. And, one that might see us giving this flip the flick…)

Design and display: Very mindful. Very demure.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is compact, chic, and easily slips into even the smallest of bags or pockets. A handy feature given the potential return of that most millennial of bags – the Baguette. The hinge mechanism feels robust and refined, providing a satisfying click when opening and closing. Although the crease is visible, it is less obtrusive than in previous models.

If Generation Alpha were to describe the display, they’d probably term it “very mindful, very demure.” However, for first-time round flip phone users unfamiliar with this vocabulary, it is in essence a description of a very good phone. One of the highlights of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is its upgraded display. Which offers vibrant colours and sharp clarity. The cover screen is also surprisingly functional, allowing users to manage notifications and quick tasks without unfolding the phone. This feature is incredibly convenient, especially when on the go and need to stay updated without making a full stop.

Picture perfection (and battery brilliance)

Camera performance is another strong suit. The Z Flip 6 delivers impressive photo quality with rich details and accurate colours. The flexibility to use the phone as a stand for selfies and video calls is a fantastic feature. It’s a game changer for group shots or hands-free content creation, which is perfect for my on-the-go lifestyle.

The phone can also comfortably last through a day of typical use. However, it’s worth noting that heavy usage might still require a midday charge. This might be a bit of a hassle if you’re out and about all day.

The price is (not) right

The price is a major consideration. While the Z Flip 6 boasts cutting-edge technology and elegant design, it comes with a premium price tag. It’s a luxury device that offers a glimpse into the future of mobile technology, but whether it’s worth the investment depends on how much you value its unique features and stylish design.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is a beautifully crafted device with several standout features, particularly for those who appreciate innovative tech and a high-fashion touch. The cost and battery life are notable factors, but if you’re looking for a blend of style and high-tech functionality, it’s definitely worth considering.
