Forget the Oscars. And the Grammys. This Friday, the Foyster Media team for Women Love Tech and the Game Changers will rock their red carpet best at The Lizzies – with a staggering ten finalist nominations at the annual Australian Samsung IT Journalism Awards.
Not just another royal family member
As well as sharing a nickname for the beloved former Queen of England (RIP), The Lizzies are a celebration of all things Information Technology Down Under. Or, more specifically, the best in technology reporting, multi-media content creation, and media innovation. They are widely regarded as the pinnacle of recognition for journalists, editors, and media outlets covering the local tech industry in Australia. And, with categories spanning consumer technology, independent coverage, and video and corporate video production, the awards honour the most influential voices shaping the conversation around innovation and technology.
Women Love Tech Finalist Nominations

Game Changers Finalist Nominations
Founded and Produced by Robyn Foyster, Editor and Owner of Women Love Tech, the Game Changers video and podcast site entered for the first year and has been recognised for:
- Best Corporate Content
- Best Audio Content
- Best Video Content
A big thanks to our presenters Gemma Acton and Tracey Spicer, and Lawrence Lim at Tribal Apes, who produces the video and podcast series with Robyn. And if you want to find out about to become a Game Changers, contact sophie@gamechangers.com.au for our next series is being shot on May 4.
Additionally, key team members have been recognised individually. These include Women Love Tech’s Editor and Owner, Robyn Foyster for Best Short Form Content, as well as our fearless Features Editor, Elise Strachan – for both Best New Journalist & Best Technology Reviewer. (Her thoughts on the Nokia 3210 went viral last year!)
And the winner is … Female Tech Journalists everywhere
Robyn has expressed her excitement at the nominations, highlighting the significance of diverse representation in the tech media space. “These nods are a testament to the importance of female voices in tech,” she said.
“And, to receive this many nominations as a finalist against such huge competition as national TV stations and national newspapers is beyond exciting. This is particularly the case given we are a small media outlet – driven mainly by our passion to support women and change the gender inequity that exists in our sector. And, we are proud to have made some real gains this year with the introduction of our mentoring platform and events such as the one we had for International Women’s Day and SXSW Sydney 2024 supported by AWS, BizCubed and Alternaleaf.“
“We need more diverse voices in the tech sector. And I’m proud of our all-female team who do this. This includes Elise Strachan our Features Editor, our Gaming and Social Media Editor Phoebe Kahn, and our Beauty and Lifestyle Editor Mare-Antoinette Issa – who have all achieved so much.”
The Lizzie’s are put together by Influencing and Mediaconnect Media Group and this year’s Naming Rights Sponsor is Samsung Australia, lifetime sponsors Watterson Marketing Communications along with returning supporters Optus, NetApp, Meta, The Australian Computer Society, Amazon, new partners Alternaleaf, Apptio in support of the 360 degree photobooth, Aussie Broadband who return as the Official Gin Sponsor, Cisco who return as our livecast partner, and Adobe who join as our new print and design partner for 2025.
“This year’s response to the 23rd Annual Awards has been phenomenal with the number of entries up by about 20 per cent, and covering more journalists and outlets than ever before,” said Influencing CEO Phil Sim.
“Judging is now complete and I’d like to thank all of the judges for taking the time to consider such a large number of entries.”
