Meta Update: Take Control by Resetting Your Instagram Recommendations

Tired of seeing content on Instagram that doesn’t match your interests? Meta has announced a new game-changing feature on Instagram that allows you to reset your content recommendations and start fresh!

Launching in the coming weeks, you’ll now be able to personalise your recommended content like never before.

So, how will it work?

On Instagram, you’ll be able to reset your suggested content algorithm. Recommendations will then gradually become personalised again based on your interactions and browsing activity. This way, you can shape your experience in ways that align with your interests and priorities.

Currently, you can also choose what you don’t want to see on your feed by selecting “Not interested” from the three-dot menu, or using the Hidden Words feature to hide content with certain words or phrases in the caption.

Teens in countries like the US, UK, Canada, and Australia can now also choose topics they’re passionate about – ranging from travel to sports – to customise their experience further.

Age-Appropriate Content Protections

Recognising parents’ concerns about sensitive content, Instagram is implementing stricter rules for teen accounts. Any content that violates community guidelines is removed entirely, and additional measures prevent teens from viewing inappropriate material, even if it’s shared by someone they follow.

In light of long-standing social media controversies, Instagram is now actively committed to giving users greater control over their content while promoting safer, more positive experiences for teens.
