We’re getting to that time of the year when consumer electronics news and releases go into hyper-drive – Samsung, Google, Apple etc. have (and will continue to have) new products and devices launching almost every week for the next couple of months. Last week’s big tech news included the Samsung Galaxy Watch and the Samsung Note 9, and we’re especially eager for the former. The Samsung Galaxy Watch, which we’ll review closer to launch, brings the best of the Galaxy ecosystem – it’s got a long-lasting battery life, LTE connectivity, wellness capabilities, and a personalised design that’s also timeless.
The Galaxy Watch will be available in Midnight Black, Silver, and (the prettiest of them all) Rose Gold, in two watch face sizes (46mm and 42mm). It’s a beautifully crafted timepiece that delivers on both style and functionality.
Some of the key highlights of the Galaxy Watch include:
- The improved battery life of up to 80-plus hours, which eliminates the need for daily charging, so you can keep up with your work week.
- Its LTE connectivity – across 30-plus carriers in over 15 countries – guarantees a great experience across devices, through messaging, calls, mapping and music.
- The Galaxy Watch offers a holistic health experience with its new stress management tracker, which detects high levels of stress (you can also practise the breathing exercises it offers if you’re feeling stressed!). There’s also a new advanced sleep tracker which monitors all levels of sleep (including REM), so you can adjust your sleeping habits and get enough rest.
- The Galaxy Watch perfectly combines all the benefits from the Galaxy ecosystem, with SmartThings, Samsung Health, Samsung Flow, Samsung Knox, Samsung Pay (the first mobile wallet in Australia to integrate with all of the ‘Big Four’ banks, we’ve already crowned Samsung Pay as THE fashion accessory), and Bixby, as well as partnerships with Spotify and Under Armour.
The Galaxy Watch will be available to purchase in Australia from October 4, 2018. Both the cellular models (which utilise an e-SIM to connect to telecommunication networks) and Bluetooth models can be purchased from select operator and retail partners as well as Samsung experience stores and from the Samsung website.
The cellular model will be priced from $649, while the Bluetooth model starts from $549.
