Amazon has refreshed its Kindle range from the ground up and launched a faster Fire TV Stick 4K with a new remote. If your nightstand, tote bag or TV setup is due for an update, here is what’s new.

A Kindle to match your manicure

The new Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft are thinner and lighter, with a flush-front display that removes the raised border around the screen. The result is an uninterrupted page and a slimmer, more portable device. The colour now wraps from front to back too, so your choice shows whether your Kindle is on a cafe table, a nightstand or tucked in a bag.

The new shades are Ube (a rich purple), Alpine Sky, Seaglass Green and Graphite, with Fig arriving on e-readers for the first time. They range from cool blue and jade green to deep plum, which makes it easy to coordinate with your accessories, your home décor or this year’s trending colours.

Reading is clearly having a moment. Amazon says Kindle has seen double-digit growth globally for three years in a row, with more than 720 billion pages read in 2025 alone.

The new lineup

Kindle (from A$279). The most pocket-sized Kindle yet, with 16GB of storage, up to six weeks of battery life and book opening that is 30% faster than the previous lineup. It comes in Ube and Graphite. The housing is made from recycled materials.

Kindle with aluminium back (A$299). The same pocket-sized form with a more premium feel. It has 32GB of storage, an 80% recycled aluminium housing with a matte finish, and comes in Alpine Sky and Seaglass Green.

Kindle Paperwhite (from A$369). Thinner and lighter, waterproof, with an adjustable warm light for comfortable reading at any hour and up to 12 weeks of battery life. It has 16GB of storage and comes in Graphite. The Signature Edition (A$399) adds an aluminium rear housing, 32GB of storage, an auto-adjusting front light, dock charging and double tap to turn pages, in Graphite and Seaglass Green.

Kindle Colorsoft (from A$449). Paper-like colour without the glare of a tablet, which suits colourful covers, travel guides, comics and graphic novels. It has 16GB of storage and comes in Graphite. The Signature Edition (A$499) adds aluminium housing, 32GB of storage, an auto-adjusting front light, double tap to turn pages and dock charging, in Graphite and Fig.

Accessories for the serious reader

Amazon has also added a few extras for people who have built their own reading setups over the years:

• Kindle Click (A$49.95). A compact Bluetooth remote for turning pages, handy for reading under the covers, on a treadmill or on a tray table mid-flight. It works with all new Kindles and any Kindle from 2024 onward.
• Page-Turn Cover (A$119.95). A magnetic cover with physical page-turn buttons that keeps the slim shape. It suits the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition.
• Charging Dock (A$89.95). A stand that keeps the Paperwhite and Colorsoft Signature Editions upright and charged.
• Kindle Covers (from A$54.95). Knit fabric, plant-based leather or pebbled premium leather, colour-matched across the range. Slim magnetic covers are available for the aluminium models.

Availability: The new Kindle is now available on Amazon.com.au. The Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft are available for pre-order on Amazon.com.au and at leading retailers.

A faster Fire TV Stick 4K

Amazon has also launched a new Fire TV Stick 4K, the latest in its new generation of Fire TV hardware.

• Speed. Faster than the previous generation Fire TV Stick 4K Select
• Connection. Wi-Fi 6 support, which helps when several devices share your network
• Design. Amazon’s thinnest and most portable yet, with Direct Power so it runs from your TV’s USB port with the included cable and needs no wall adaptor. That makes it easy to tuck behind a TV or pack for a trip
• Alexa+ Early Access. Built in, so you can search across apps in natural language and get personalised recommendations hands-free

The Fire TV Stick 4K costs A$129 and is shipping now through Amazon.com.au and JB Hi-Fi.

A remote you can use without looking

The new Fire TV Remote has more tactile controls, so you can find the key buttons without looking down. It also gets a customisable star button, previously found only on Amazon’s premium remote. This means you can set to jump to your favourite app or toggle settings like closed captions or Screen Magnifier.

It is available for pre-order as a standalone upgrade for existing Fire TV devices, shipping in Australia from 22 October for A$24.95.

TLDR?

Between the colour-matched Kindles and a Fire TV Stick that tucks neatly behind the telly, Amazon’s latest launch is all about making downtime feel a little more considered. Pick your shade, settle in and let the page turn itself. Or at least let a tiny remote do it for you.
