Chris Hemsworth, resident Avenger and TAG Heuer global Brand Ambassador officially celebrated 55 Years of the iconic TAG Heuer Carrera with the launch of the ‘Museum in Motion’ Exhibition in Sydney this week. The launch event was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art, overlooking the gorgeous Sydney Harbour which looked even more spectacular since Vivid Sydney is on.

Hemsworth starred as McLaren driver James Hunt, Niki Lauda’s fierce competitor in Ron Howard’s brilliant 2013 film Rush, which depicted the world of Formula 1 racing, the rivalries, and also TAG Heuer’s longstanding association with motoracing, being one of the first brands to partner with the Formula 1. He officially became a TAG Heuer global brand ambassador in 2015.

As a feature piece for the event, Hemsworth unveiled a one-of-a-kind TAG Heuer Carrera timepiece that he collaborated on and produced exclusively for the event. The bespoke Carrera Calibre Heuer 02 watch is inspired by Hemsworth’s own style and has a 43mm case, in-house Calibre Heuer 02 movement, and a black perforated rubber strap with a deep blue skeleton dial.

The actor’s signature is featured on the case-back that comes with the special edition watch box – this piece was auctioned on the night for the Australian Childhood Foundation, with a total of $35,000 donated to the charity. Hemsworth, whose parents who have been social workers for more than 20 years, is a passionate patron of the Foundation, and the funds raised will assist the recovery of abused and neglected children.

The Museum in Motion exhibition, which is in Australia for the first time ever, is a splendid collection celebrating heritage timepieces from the TAG Heuer museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds, collectors’ personal timepieces, and the latest contemporary avant-garde models.

For a limited time between 7th-21st June the Museum in Motion Exhibition will be open to the public at the TAG Heuer Sydney Flagship Boutique.
