EOFY Deals In Tech To Get Your Hands On This July

The end of financial year is almost here, and with it comes the highly-anticipated EOFY sales. During this time, retailers offer heavy discounts to get rid of last season’s stock before June 30, providing a great opportunity to purchase big-ticket items at a discount.

The combination of a pandemic and a recession means that many people will be keeping their wallets shut this year. A recent survey by Finder revealed that just 25% of Aussies plan to shop the midseason sales this year, down from 79% in 2019.

As retailers compete in a bid to bag your business, there are plenty of bargains to be had by savvy shoppers.

Unsure where to start? Here are some of the best tech buys to get your hands on during the EOFY sales this year.

Tips for shopping the EOFY sales

online shopping

From comparing prices to knowing what to claim on tax, here are some of our best tips for shopping during the June sales.

Ask yourself if you need the product

With prices slashed across the board, it’s easy to give in to impulse buying. To prevent this, ask yourself if you really need the product. Sure, you might want a new laptop, but is your current model in working order? Remember – just because it’s a good deal, doesn’t mean you should buy it.

Know your returns policy

If a product doesn’t meet your expectations, you want to know you’ll be able to get your money back if you decide to return it. With this in mind, it’s worth checking out a retailer’s returns policy prior to making a purchase – especially for big ticket items.

Be savvy when comparing prices

It’s important to know how much you’re actually saving before making a purchase during EOFY. Make sure to compare a product’s sale price against the recommended retail price (RRP) to ensure you’re getting a good deal.

Ask if the retailer price matches

If your preferred item is available for the best price with a non-preferred retailer, check to see if your favourite shop offers a price-match guarantee. Many stores will offer to beat the price you find or at the very least match it.

Items may be tax deductible

If you’ve been working from home, you may be eligible to receive a tax refund for home office equipment you’ve purchased. This includes items like computers, printers, phones and furniture. You can claim for the full cost of the item (up to $300), but you’ll need to hold onto your receipt as proof of purchase.

The EOFY sales can be a great time to stock up on tech items at a fraction of the regular price, provided you stick to a budget and only purchase what you need.
