Despite the abundance of social media platforms designed for that exact purpose, in today’s fast-paced world, forging meaningful connections can be harder than ever. Particularly for Australian women over 50 – when finding and nurturing genuine friendships has never been more crucial. That’s why Joy, a revolutionary new platform, has emerged to fill this significant gap in the social landscape. Joy is more than just another social network. It’s a dedicated space designed to help women in mid-life forge long-lasting friendships, share experiences, build supportive communities and well and truly Find Joy.

Finding Joy for women over 50

Phoebe Adams, Head of Joy, launched this innovative platform with a clear mission: to address the unique needs of women in their 50s and beyond. As Adams explains, “I started Joy because I recognized that women’s friendship circles change as they age. This demographic of 50+ women was underserved by current options—no longer ‘school mums’, not yet pensioners or ‘older Australians’. These women still want fun experiences with peers and definitely don’t feel old.”

Operating across major Australian cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Perth, Joy offers a fresh approach to social networking. Unlike typical platforms where interactions often remain superficial, Joy is purpose-built to foster deep, meaningful connections. It’s a place where women can meet face-to-face, share personal experiences, and build supportive relationships in a welcoming environment.

Activities across Australia

Joy is designed to cater to a diverse range of interests and needs. Whether you’re new to an area, an empty nester, a recent retiree, or simply looking to expand your social circle, Joy has something for you. The platform offers a variety of programs focused on health and fitness, mindfulness, social gatherings, and community involvement.

From volunteering opportunities to self-empowerment workshops, Joy actively supports women in all aspects of their lives. Upcoming events include:
