HUAWEI Band 6 Review: Helps You Build Healthy Habits

Atomic Habits author James Clear says ‘The task of building a good habit is like cultivating a delicate flower one day at a time.‘

And so it has been the case for me as I’ve worked diligently over the last 4-5 months to improve my healthy habits starting by increasing my daily steps from the lower side of 5,000 steps a day to a minimum of 10,000 steps a day.

Crucial to me making this a new habit has been helped by using my HUAWEI Band 6 smartphone which has enabled me to measure my steps and keeps me accountable by tracking my progress through the HUAWEI app. In fact, the simple task of referring to it after every long walk has made me a good judge of what distance and time it takes to reach my daily 10,000 steps. Just so you know, Sydney’s Manly Beach from top to bottom and back again is 7,000 steps approximately and takes under an hour!

Light and easy to wear, the HUAWEI Band 6 watch has been integral to me achieving this really important health milestone by monitoring my exercise. Of course, there’s plenty more than just tracking your walk that this all day sports monitoring device can do on top of the fairly obvious – keeping track of the time.

It’s been useful for tracking my sleep and has the ability to also track your heart rate, stress levels, and even menstrual cycle.

Weighing in at only 18g, the smartwatch is comfortable to keep on 24/7 and I have the pink strap (above) which is waterproof so I never remove it from my wrist.

Choosing the watch face is easy and while I found many of the options weren’t to my taste because they were somewhat garish, there was fortunately a more traditional option available seen in the example above.

The design itself is simple to get to grips with and the device is compact which I prefer. The 1.47-inch AMOLED FullView Display has a 64 per cent screen-to-body ratio, meaning it can display more information while remaining stylish. Additionally, HUAWEI Band 6 has an all important two-week battery life which is one of my favourite things about this product.HUAWEI, it seems, understands the importance of long battery life.

And, we all know how annoying it is to constantly recharge smartwatches, mobiles or earbuds. Or worse, get caught out without them because they have run out of battery. YEP, it’s happened to all of us.

Best of all it’s brilliantly priced at just $AU139.

So to quote James Clear from Atomic Habits again: ‘Be the designer of your world and not merely the consumer of it.‘ And if that means a little help from a trusty smartwatch so be it.

TOP TIPS FOR GETTING YOUR DAILY STEPS UP

Walking every day is so much more fun to do whilst listening to your favourite music or podcast. I’ve been wearing the HUAWEIFreeBuds 4i which are particularly good value especially as it has the benefit of a powerful battery life as well as active noise cancellation, and brilliant audio quality.
