Louise Stigwood, Director, Enterprise ANZ at Amazon Web Services, talks about the importance of upskilling and how women can upskill in tech.

Hello, my name’s Louise Stigwood. I’m Director for Enterprise at Amazon Web Services.

I’m really privileged in my role that I get to work with organizations across Australia and help them transform their businesses using Cloud.

At Amazon, we believe the future is diverse, inclusive, and equitable for everybody. And skills are a really important element of making sure that Cloud and Gen AI is accessible to everybody. That’s why we have lots of different skills and training pathways for people from all different backgrounds.

One of the courses that I’m particularly excited about is our CloudUp for Her program. To date, we’ve had over 2,000 women across the financial services sector take advantage of this course. This course is specifically designed for females across any background to gain skills in Cloud fluency to help them get access to new and diverse roles.

Did you know that we recently did some research at AWS that found that 84% of workers surveyed expected to be using AI tools within their work within the next five years? They anticipated to see a 45% improvement in productivity as a result of using these tools.

At AWS, we’ve trained over 400,000 people in Australia with Cloud skills, and we’ve got no intention of stopping there, which is why we’ve rolled out a number of AI skills and training programs to help everybody of every background get access to these skills.

We’ve got customers across all different industries, changing customer experience and changing their employee experience using Gen AI.

Some of the great things that we are going be seeing are improvements in healthcare as we use generative AI to improve genome sequencing. And traveller experiences improved – Lonely Planet recently took their entire catalogue of traveller experiences and using generative AI are now able to provide uniquely personalized traveller journeys.

At AWS, we have over 600 free online skills training programs and pathways. If you’re interested in learning more about the AWS CloudUp for Her program, click on the link below:
