At Women Love Tech we love and support women who work in technology. I personally met with Tara Commerford during a GoDaddy lunch celebrating her new position as the new country manager Australia and New-Zealand. Kindly Tara answered my fun and quirky questions, let’s see who is Tara Commerford.
Meet Tara Commerford GoDaddy New Country Manager
Can you give us a little background on your career to date?
My career spans 15 years of international and commercial experience in the management and expansion of companies with a focus on market entry, business development and brand strategy. I’ve worked across markets in Asia Pacific, Japan, China, US and Canada within a number of different industries and roles, but always in leadership positions.
I started my career in journalism – my shift into the technology space happened when I was working for an international media company here in Sydney. I led the roll over of all print properties to digital, managing front and back end developers and editorial, marketing and sales teams across three countries.
Most recently, I led LinkedIn’s communications strategy across Australia/NZ and Southeast Asia over the past five years. I was part of the start-up team for LinkedIn Australia back in 2010 and was responsible for a range of functions to drive both brand awareness & growth of the platform.
I’m currently a non-executive director for Reventure – the not-for-profit owner of the commercial entity Converge RTK, which works to provide support to people through tailored Employee Assistance Programs.
Tell Us About GoDaddy
I’m now responsible for leading and building out GoDaddy’s presence in Australia & New Zealand, accelerating business growth and promoting GoDaddy’s products and services, including domain name registrations, websites and SME productivity tools.
GoDaddy offers a full suite of products and combines this with award-winning customer care to empower small business owners and entrepreneurs in Australia, to easily start, confidently grow and successfully run their own ventures.
Would you call yourself a tech-savvy woman? and why?
I think being ‘tech savvy’ brings on such a broader meaning these days. It’s about exploring new ideas and new thinking. I’m interested in emerging Australian startups and disruptive technologies. I think it’s important to learn, evolve and stay relevant when it comes to digital innovation – I’m constantly curious. I also enjoy acting as a connecter between the entrepreneurial community and venture capitalists… I’m always looking to bridge opportunities as I see them.
