From smart homes to social media, Artificial Intelligence continues to permeate daily life. With AI’s influence in business increasing, more brands are using this technology to drive innovation and improve operational efficiency. NetApp, a company specializing in intelligent data infrastructure, used the recent Insight 2024 conference to launch new solutions that help organizations utilize AI for data protection, ensuring data remains secure and resilient.

Accelerating AI Innovation

At NetApp Insight 2024, CEO George Kurian emphasized data’s crucial role in the AI era. As businesses adopt generative AI (GenAI) for tasks like content creation and data analysis, effective data management is vital. Gartner forecasts AI software spending will reach nearly $300 billion by 2027, with GenAI being a major contributor. NetApp is dedicated to providing the smart data infrastructure needed for success in this evolving environment.

Key innovations announced at NetApp Insight 2024 include:

  • NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD Storage Certification. This allows organisations to leverage advanced data management capabilities for large AI projects. This enhances the performance of large language models without compromising data management.
  • Global Metadata Namespace. This feature simplifies secure and compliant data management across hybrid multi-cloud environments. As a result, it is easier for businesses to extract and classify data for AI applications.
  • Integrated AI Data Pipeline. This automated process prepares unstructured data for AI, ensuring businesses can efficiently harness their data for high-performance applications.
  • Disaggregated Storage Architecture. This design maximises resource utilisation and lowers infrastructure costs, particularly beneficial for high-scale AI workloads.

NetApp’s innovations aim to remove barriers to GenAI, helping organizations gain a competitive edge and drive business value.

Super Support for Data Security

To address data security concerns, NetApp has introduced enhancements to its cyber resiliency offerings.

The new NetApp ONTAP Autonomous Ransomware Protection with AI (ARP/AI) boasts a 99% detection rate for ransomware threats, automatically snapshotting data during an attack for quick recovery and minimal downtime. Regular updates via machine learning ensure it combats new ransomware variants effectively.

Additionally, the BlueXP ransomware protection service now offers proactive security measures, integrating with Splunk SIEM to simplify threat response and enhance data protection strategies. Features like user behaviour analytics underscore NetApp’s comprehensive approach to safeguarding businesses from internal and external threats.

Simplifying storage modernisation

NetApp has introduced the ASA A-Series all-flash storage systems, designed for advanced block storage workloads.

Key benefits include:

Operational simplicity: Quick deployment and minimal management steps.

High performance: Millions of IOPs and sub-millisecond latency, ideal for critical applications like VMware and databases.

Affordability: 25-50% lower upfront costs compared to competitors.
