Prestigious New York Immersion Program

FD Global Connections, which works with organisations to launch their businesses in the USA, has just announced applications are open for its prestigious New York Immersion Program, especially targeting female-led startups and SMEs ready to scale up into the US market.

There are only 15 places available for the exclusive opportunity to get in front of some of the US’s leading investors, customers, mentors and industry-leading professional service providers. The 90-day acceleration program provides an enormous head start into a market that is often considered remarkably challenging to break into.

The New York Immersion program run by FD Global Connections, is supported by New York City Economic Development Corporation and is in partnership with Tyro FinTech Hub and Qantas Business Rewards. During the 90-day program, participants are required to attend workshops in Sydney, and one week of an intensive, fully curated program with Lab1492, an established and highly successful New York-based accelerator.

Founder and CEO of FD Global Connections, Trena Blair has lived and worked in New York for many years, giving her a keen insight into the regulatory, start-up and financial landscape and has built robust networks across all industries. She has also been a passionate advocate and mentor for women throughout her career, establishing and co-sponsoring women’s corporate networks (ANZ) on her return to Australia.

“I have always supported women and diversity throughout my career, and the New York Immersion program has evolved from that, enabling me to combine my professional business of supporting Australian businesses to launch into the USA, with my passion for mentoring and supporting talented business women and entrepreneurs to reach their goals,” says Trena of the New York Immersion program.

Trena continues: “We are looking forward to receiving applications from start-up and SME businesses which are already earning strong revenue and have an established track record in Australia,” says Trena. “While it is not essential the entrepreneurs attending are women, successful companies must be able to demonstrate strong diversity practices and policies, and ideally they will be looking for investment or clientele in New York.”

New York was recently named as the global capital in the Dell Corporation’s Women Entrepreneur Cities Index, which measures a city’s ability to nurture and support women in business.

Andrew Corbett-Jones, head of Tyro’s Fintech Hub and program partner says of the program: “You can’t underestimate how difficult is it is to expand into another country, particularly the USA. Some companies only get one shot at getting into this market, and access to Trena’s network’s knowledge and experience will radically improve their chances of doing well.”

Upon acceptance into the New York Immersion Program applicants will participate in an intensive 121 review of their USA market strategies, followed by fully curated Sydney and New York workshops to connect participants face-to-face with Venture Capitalists and prospective clients to pitch their businesses, networking groups and one-on-one mentoring from some of the city’s most exceptional business leaders.

Successful applicants may be eligible for a government Export grant to assist with the cost of the program (see the end of release for a link), and Trena has also worked with Qantas for flight and accommodation deals. Applications close on 2 April 2018 and can be submitted at http://www.fdglobal.com.au/scaling-up-programs/scaling-up-nyc-april-2018/
