On Tuesday, October 15, BizCubed CEO Rebecca Zeus will join a panel of industry experts at a special Women Love Tech event at SXSW Sydney. She will be joined by Chiara Longhi, the Innovation Strategy GTM for Asia-Pacific & Japan at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Myles Lawlor, General Manager of Technology and Product at Alternaleaf. Rebecca will share valuable insights about how she fosters innovation in her own data engineering company, as well as career highlights and how mentorship shaped her future.
With a career spanning more than 20 years, Rebeca has earned a reputation for her forward-thinking approach to technology and her dedication to helping businesses thrive through data-driven innovation.
She consistently pushes boundaries in tech, and fosters environments of innovation, inclusion, and leadership. Her appearance at SXSW Sydney is sure to be a highlight of the event, sharing her business acumen and vision with other industry leaders about the ever-evolving tech industry and the crucial role of mentorship and career advice for women in this space.
Mentorship, Environmental Leadership, and Innovation in Tech: Rebecca’s Journey
Rebecca’s journey into the tech world began with a passion for environmental sustainability and solving complex problems through innovative solutions. Driven by a curious nature from a young age, her career in engineering was fueled by her commitment to environmental protection, leading her to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering, followed by a Master’s in Environmental Engineering. Today, as CEO of BizCubed, a Sydney-based data solutions company, Rebecca helps businesses transform through data intelligence and technology.
At BizCubed, Rebecca has spearheaded the creation of world-class systems, combining operational excellence and innovative solutions that empower businesses to make better decisions. Under her guidance, BizCubed has launched several key services, including the latest ESG123, a programme designed to help business ESG experts leverage BizCubed’s proven data engineering methodology and unique operational approach for better sustainability outcomes.
“I am thrilled that this innovation of combining several of our existing offerings and applying it to the sustainability space has enabled me to bring my lifelong passions to the fore again.”
World-Class Systems and Solid Foundations
Rebecca’s success is rooted in her belief that innovation accelerates when built on solid foundations. During her tenure at Linde, she developed a highly successful Energy Efficiency programme from a local pilot to a global initiative expected to deliver $5 million in savings, and embedded carbon footprinting into business processes, linking outcomes to KPIs. This experience honed her expertise in creating repeatable, scalable solutions that drive long-term impact.
Her aim is to empower clients with data-driven insights. She emphasizes that having a robust operational base enables agility and allows creativity and innovation to flourish—a principle that underpins the company’s new ESG123 service offering.
Mentorship: A Key to Success
Mentorship has played a pivotal role in Rebecca’s career, especially in her early years, when a key mentor helped her make international career moves and build her leadership capabilities. As a strong advocate for mentorship, she highlights its importance in helping young professionals develop, especially women in tech, who often face unique challenges in a male-dominated industry.
“With a two notable exceptions, I didn’t have many mentors in my career within the organisations at which I worked. I had to learn what career development meant on my own, and found external mentorship structures. When I started with BizCubed, I was really excited to implement a strong career development and mentoring program within the business.”
Despite career obstacles, including the loss of mentors during company restructuring, Rebecca persevered, drawing on her network and leadership skills to continue her professional growth. Now, she is committed to giving back, mentoring the next generation of tech professionals and sharing her insights on how mentorship can accelerate career development.
Women Love Tech is proud to continue our partnership with Rebecca with the upcoming launch of our mentoring where Rebecca will be one of our senior mentors.
Empowering Women in Tech and Beyond
As a leader and advocate for diversity, Rebecca has worked tirelessly to empower women in the tech industry. Rebecca’s participation in the Women Love Tech panel at SXSW Sydney and her work in promoting diversity and inclusion in the tech sector highlight her belief that diversity drives innovation and stronger teams. Through initiatives including BizCubed’s professional development programmes and diversity-driven recruitment efforts, she continues to foster an inclusive culture among her own team where everyone can thrive.
“I’ve always taken a collaborative diversity of thought approach, firmly believing that together we can fill in each other’s gaps and blindspots and achieve better outcomes – and I’ve proven this over and over with world-class results.”
By combining her environmental expertise, mentorship, and commitment to innovation, Rebecca is making a meaningful impact in the tech world, helping businesses succeed while promoting sustainability and empowerment.
