Review: Nespresso Vertuo Coffee Machine

We tested out the Nespresso Vertuo Coffee Machine over a couple of weeks. My machine arrived with a handy selection of coffees to try and an Aeroccino3 milk frother.

The Vertuo Next lets you be your own barista and create a range of café style coffees at home and in your office. Did you know it’s the first Nespresso machine made with 54% recycled plastic?

Each coffee capsule has a barcode around the edge so the machine knows what you have selected. The capsule scanning technology automatically adapts brewing parameters to create your favourite coffee.

The coffee is then brewed using a Patented Centrifusion process. It’s a spun filter coffee where the increase in nitrogen results in a foamy top. Coffee snobs might argue that it’s not a true espresso coffee because no pressure has been applied to the coffee. However, the experience is unique to the texture of the foam.

Box contents

The box contains a coffee machine, power cord, capsule box, welcome material, three booklets including user manual, warranty and safety instructions. There is a handy carry handle on the box.

Setup

The coffee machine is reasonably easy to set up after you pair your mobile phone with it. We did need to do a software update.

It’s easy to use. Turn the machine on and place your cup on the drip tray. You’ll need to pop a coffee capsule in the top, turn the lever to the left until it clicks and then press the button with a coffee cup icon to start brewing.

The barcode recognition allows the blend to be extracted perfectly to an individual recipe. It’s a clever touch.

Afterwards, the capsule will fall down into the collection compartment. You can then take your used capsules to a Nespresso shop (or pop them in the post) for recycling.

The machine is easy to clean with hot water and mild odourless detergent.

I’m pleased I was able to try a selection of the Vertuo coffee range. The coffee machine includes a complimentary 12-capsule starter pack with small, medium and large capsules. There is a wide variety in flavours and tastes – so you’ll be sure to find something you enjoy.

Paired with the Aeroccino3 and your favourite milk you’ll be able to make cappuccino, latte or flat white. The milk frother makes both creamy hot milk and cold froth.

The Nespresso Vertuo Coffee Machine has added some pep to my morning routine.

The Vertuo Next Bundle is available at Nespresso shops online, and at selected retailers.

Nespresso

Be your own barista and create café-style coffee with Nespresso’s Vertuo Next coffee machine. When used with the Aeroccino3, it makes the perfect consistency cappuccino, latte or flat white.

The unique barcode on each coffee capsule contains bespoke extraction parameters. This regulates the flow and volume of water, as well as the temperature, infusion time and even the speed of capsule rotation. You can precisely brew your favourite coffee style. Easily. Every time.
