The Gear S2 classic is tailored to users who prefer a timeless watch design, offering an elegant black finish with a matching genuine leather band. At just 11.4 millimetres, the Gear S2 brings a light and compact design to your wrist. It offers a vibrant viewing experience, featuring a 1.2-inch circular screen with a 360 x 360 resolution (302 ppi). The Gear S2 is run by Tizen OS and includes a 1.0 GHz dual-core processor, which helps to make accessing apps, notifications and performing tasks near-seamless.

The Tizen software on the Gear S2 has also been designed to provide compatibility with smartphones that run on AndroidĂ” 4.4 and above, with a minimum of 1.5GB RAM and Bluetooth 4.0. Gear S2 smartphone compatibility can be activated on Galaxy and Android-powered devices via the Samsung Gear Manager app, available in Galaxy Apps or the Google Play store.

Lifestyle

The lifestyle functions on the Gear S2 can help encourage consumers to stay healthy and active. When connected to a compatible smartphone, the Activity Log lets users view daily activity progress and patterns at a glance. It will also duplicate reminders from a compatible smartphone to help motivate users to stay on track with their fitness goals.

Convenience and Connectivity

The Gear S2 also offers connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, allowing users to stay connected even when their compatible smartphone is not in the same room as the Gear S2. Users can stay connected with at-a-glance notifications to check calendars, e-mails, and news and can even send texts directly from their wrist when connected to a compatible device.

All of these connected features will be supported by an outstanding battery charging system, with users now able to simply place the Gear S2 on the wireless charging dock right out of the box.

Customisation and Apps

The Gear S2 reflects Samsung’s commitment to bringing increased customisation and applications to its devices. Samsung is working closely with partners to offer consumers a choice of 15 pre-loaded watch faces and eight watch bands (sold separately), so that users can have a variety of ways to express their personal style and mood. Users can easily change the band and choose a watch face which creates a personalised experience.

A variety of apps that are supported by the Gear S2’s circular user interface will be available at launch, including Nike+. Through open collaboration with developers and partners, Samsung is continuing to enrich its wearable ecosystem and provide users with a unique smart wearable experience.
