Staying connected with loved ones is being made easier than ever. Now Amazon is introducing Alexa-to-phone calling, with free calls from Echo devices to mobile and landline numbers in Australia.
The aim is to help you to stay in touch with friends and family. To set up calling, users need to simply download the latest version of the Alexa app and sign in on their mobile phone. After adding and verifying their phone number, customers can import their contacts list when prompted or add contacts individually via the Communicate page in the app. Once set up, customers can make hands-free calls to their contacts by simply saying “Alexa, call Mum”.
It will also be possible to assign an emergency contact who Alexa will call and send an SMS when a user asks for help. This feature can be especially helpful for older Australians who may not have the same access to technology.
In addition to Alexa-to-phone calling, Alexa already has other communication features such as Drop In, Announcements and Alexa-to-Alexa calling. With Drop Ins, users can easily check in with their family in the household. Announcements allows users to quickly share a one-way voice message to their other devices. Finally, Alexa-to-Alexa calling allows users to make and receive voice and video calls between Alexa devices or the Alexa app.
Alexa-to-phone calling helps you stay connected with your family and friends and adds a layer of safety with the emergency contact feature. With the rise of technology, it’s easier than ever before to stay in touch and Alexa-to-phone calling is the perfect addition to Amazon’s suite of communication features.
