We’ve reached an interesting point in wearable technology. For years, smartwatches have promised to keep us connected, but they’ve also become another source of notifications, buzzing wrists and endless distractions.
Garmin is taking a different approach.
Its newest wearable, the CIRQA Smart Band, strips away the screen entirely, focusing instead on something many of us arguably need more than another text alert – better sleep, lower stress levels and smarter recovery.
Designed for people who want meaningful health insights without constantly checking a display, the $299 wearable quietly tracks your wellbeing in the background before syncing everything to the Garmin Connect app when you’re ready to review it.
It’s a subtle shift in thinking, but one that reflects a growing appetite for technology that supports digital wellbeing instead of contributing to digital fatigue.
Garmin packs its most advanced health tracking features into the minimalist CIRQA Smart Band. It monitors sleep stages, sleep scores, heart rate variability (HRV), respiration, stress, Body Battery energy monitoring, heart rate, Pulse Ox and skin temperature throughout the day and night. It also features built-in nap detection and supports menstrual cycle and pregnancy tracking through the Garmin Connect app.
Comfort is central to CIRQA’s design. Garmin replaced the bulk of a traditional smartwatch with a soft premium fabric band that sits comfortably on the wrist or upper arm, making overnight wear feel effortless while capturing more accurate sleep data.
Battery anxiety is another problem Garmin is looking to solve. CIRQA delivers up to 10 days of battery life on a single charge, meaning users can spend less time hunting for a charger and more time collecting meaningful health insights.
Perhaps one of the biggest selling points, however, is what Garmin hasn’t included. Unlike several competing wellness trackers, CIRQA doesn’t require an ongoing subscription to unlock advanced health metrics. Garmin gives you access to every health insight through the Garmin Connect app without adding a monthly subscription to the cost of your CIRQA.
To celebrate the Australian launch, Garmin is giving Sydneysiders the chance to experience the philosophy behind CIRQA firsthand.
For two days only – Wednesday 12 August and Thursday 13 August – the company is transforming Sage Space in Darlinghurst into the Garmin Recharge Lounge, a free wellness pop-up created in partnership with fitness entrepreneur and wellness advocate Kayla Itsines.
Rather than simply showcasing CIRQA, Garmin uses the activation to put the importance of recovery front and centre.
Visitors will begin with a guided 10-minute relaxation session inside a state-of-the-art sleep pod before enjoying wellness refreshments and exploring the new CIRQA Smart Band with Garmin product experts. Guests can also see their health insights in real time and learn how sleep, stress and recovery data can help inform healthier daily habits.
There’s another incentive to book a session too. Visitors who complete a short wellness questionnaire at the event will go into the draw to win one of 40 Garmin CIRQA Smart Bands being given away across the two-day activation. Everyone else will receive an exclusive 15 per cent discount code towards purchasing the wearable.
The Garmin CIRQA Smart Band is available now for $299 AUD in Black, French Gray, Mauve and Captain Blue.
The Garmin Recharge Lounge will be open on Wednesday 12 August and Thursday 13 August at Sage Space, Ground Floor, 105 Crown Street, Darlinghurst.
Entry is free, including the sleep pod experience and wellness refreshments, although bookings are required.
