Dyson has built a reputation on on making the impossible feel obvious in hindsight. A vacuum without a bag (duh!). A hairdryer engineered like a jet engine (Obvs!). A hair styler that curls without heat damage becoming the default setting (why didn’t we think of that!). So when the brand unveils something new, the fair question isn’t whether it’ll work. It’s what corner of daily life they’ve decided to rebuild this time.
At Dyson Unveiled in Berlin, Chief Engineer Jake Dyson recetnly answered that question with 13 new products spanning home care, beauty and oral care, all built around a shared idea: intelligent machines that adapt to you rather than the other way around. The lineup includes the Dyson Robot Nurovi range for smarter autonomous cleaning, the reengineered W1 PencilWash for mirror-finish floors, the Corrale Coolshine straightener, and the Airsmooth, which uses dual-bristle technology to dry, lift and smooth hair with less breakage. Each of these builds on an existing Dyson category rather than launching one from scratch, which says something about where the brand sees its next growth phase: refinement of what already works, rather than reinvention for its own sake.
But the headline act is the Dyson CameraJet Electric Toothbrush, and it might be the strangest, most ambitious thing in the lineup. It is, in Dyson’s own words, a camera-viewing, gap-finding, jet-washing, live-streaming, plaque-blasting toothbrush, and that description is not an exaggeration.
Here’s how it works: A 100k pixel macro lens camera, powered by Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting machine learning system, scans 28 live images per second, identifying and predicting the gaps between teeth in real time. Within 100 milliseconds of spotting a gap, the device fires a precision conical jet burst of mouthrinse directly into it, flossing while you brush rather than as a separate, easily skipped step, closing a compliance gap that dentists have complained about for decades.
It also runs on 16 million lines of code, and Dyson trained it on 470,000 dental images collected over six years of development, with input from 661 Dyson engineers and 30 dental professionals globally – a sense of just how much of Dyson’s famous engineering-obsessive culture went into a product the size of a toothbrush.
The engineering doesn’t stop at the camera. Dyson’s conical jet was designed to sweep plaque away in one broad motion rather than piercing straight through it like a traditional needle-type jet, while being gentler on gums. An anti-gravity tank keeps mouthrinse flowing consistently no matter how the brush is angled, a dual-bristle brush head cleans along the gumline while lifting surface stains, and a charging dock refills the whole system in three seconds flat. Independent testing found the brush’s variable sonic oscillation removes up to 69% more plaque in hard-to-reach areas than market-leading premium electric toothbrushes. It even connects to the MyDyson app via Wi-Fi, letting users watch their own brushing technique live, the same view their dentist gets, with no images stored or saved anywhere, an important detail for anyone wary of yet another camera-equipped device in the bathroom.
The Dyson Dental System, including the CameraJet toothbrush, charging dock, travel case and a starter kit of Dyson toothpaste and mouthrinse, launched 2 September 2026 at dyson.com.au, Dyson Demo Stores and selected retailers, priced at $799, available in Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink.
Six years, 38 patents and one very small camera later, with the Dyson CameraJet Electric Toothbrush, Dyson has once again taken something nobody thought needed reinventing and made the old version look faintly ridiculous by comparison. Is there anything they can’t do? Ask again next year.
