Hosted by Audra McDonald, the evening honouring Broadway stars is back after a long hiatus last year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. They were live today and you can watch them online on the free-to-air channel 10 Peach. This includes both the awards itself and the special concert show, The Tony Awards Presents: Broadway’s Back!

You can also watch the Tony Awards on Paramount+ Premium but you’ll need to sign up for an account. Right now you can sign up for a Paramount+ free 7-day trial to watch the Tonys on Paramount+ for free, with monthly plans running you $4.99 after that, or $9.99 for an ad-free subscription.
Celebrating something special
There’s something so special about the art of live performance, something that was sorely missed in the wake of the global health crisis. But, as theatres reopen their doors and invite audiences back in for a spectacle, we’re able to finally give a nod to some of the talent, both onstage and working behind the scenes.
Following in James Corden’s footsteps, six-times Tony award winner Audra McDonald will be presenting the 74th Annual Tony Awards. Hamilton’s Leslie Odom Jr is set to continue celebrations thereafter with The Tony Awards: Broadway’s Back! – a special televised concert of performances from our nominees and fellow Broadway stars.
Initially scheduled for fall 2020, this year’s Tony award gala will honor the shows and performances of the 2019-2020 Broadway season which was abruptly put to an end by the Covid-19 pandemic.
After the awards ceremony
Following the award ceremony – with the bulk of the awards – CBS and Paramount+ will both broadcast Tony Awards Presents Broadway’s Back!, a live concert event hosted by Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr. The show will include performances from the three Tony-nominated Best Musical contenders: Jagged Little Pill, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, and Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.
The special will also feature a live presentation of the top three Tony Awards of the night: Best Play, Best Revival of a Play, and Best Musical. You can catch performances by John Legend and the cast of Ain’t Too Proud, Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast of Freestyle Love Supreme, David Byrne and the cast of American Utopia, and a reunion of the original cast of Hairspray.Â
